Startup Problem

I recently just upgraded my version of Windows XP Home SP2 to Windows XP Professional SP2 a couple of days ago. I copied all my files from the old build to the new build & installed all my new programs & drivers & yesterday everything was working fine. However, this morning I noticed my computer beeping at me every so often. I go into to check on it & apparently Windows has been trying to boot for the past 4-5 hours I guess. I watched it & Windows tried to boot in Normal mode, it will never get to the login screen (where you pick which user you want to login), & after 20-30 seconds of trying it will flash a blue screen for maybe half a second & then automatically restart again. I cannot start Windows XP Pro SP2 in Normal mode, but I can successfully start it in Safe mode without any problems. Like I said, everything was working fine last night after the upgrade. Any ideas on what is going on here?

Its probably a driver fault, when in safe mode have a look in device manager for any problems, if nothing shows up then have a look at your event viewer.

I'm not sure it will be a driver problem... i just reinstalled all my missing drivers when i finished installing win xp pro sp2... will the event viewer work in safe mode?

Did it ever do anything similar before? And event viewer should work fine in safe mode.
Also, did you reformat your hard drive when you installed? If so what type, quick or full?

It's got to be a incompatibility issue.
I had one something like that. I was using spodek and the same thing happened.
If u installed some software that have services installed or non plug and play drivers u should try disable them. (this is my opinion based on your "normal" safe boot possibility)
Hope it helps!

Peace out!

I went home to check on it a few hours afterwards & it was booted up fine. I'm not sure how, but it was... apparently it had gotten past the restarting phase & just booted straight into Normal Mode. However, some of the drivers for my ethernet card, modem, & other stuff were gone after I installed them just last night. I re-installed them again... however, I'm not sure if it's going to do the same thing or not. If it does, could it be a problem with the drivers that I have that would cause this?

It could be the drivers, it could be the "other stuff".
If it starts ok now after (you say that) all of that things disappeared, I don't think it's coincidence.
