Verizon tries to win back T-Mobile customers with $500 credit and free iPhones

The big picture: The US telecom sector is not as competitive as it once was, but that does not mean the carriers have stopped rolling out offers, deals, and discounts to attract new users and win back disgruntled former customers. Verizon's current promo aims to lure back former customers who switched to T-Mobile.

Verizon is emailing former customers and offering them $500 in bill credit as an incentive to switch back. A Redditor, who claims to have received at least four messages over the past few weeks, says he called the carrier for more information, as the offer email did not have any terms or details.

The Verizon rep informed him the offer includes $500 in bill credits for eligible customers over 36 months – an approximate $14 discount per billing cycle. The rep also said he was eligible for a new free line if he switched back and bought a new phone. However, the Redditor declined the "horrible" offer as the monthly discount was too small.

Several former Verizon customers responded to the Reddit post, saying they were happy with their new carrier and would not switch even if it offered $1,000. Some cited poor customer service and pushy sales tactics as the main reasons for ending their relationship with Verizon, adding that they are much happier with T-Mobile.

If that does not do the trick, Verizon has a second promo to steal former clients from T-Mobile. Customers who switch back can claim four free iPhone 16. However, this deal is also falling flat, with some pointing out that Verizon just increased its prices a few weeks ago, and there is no guarantee that it will not hike prices again after they re-enroll.

Meanwhile, the Uncarrier is trying to placate customers following backlash for its latest price hikes. After users poured onto social media sites and internet message boards to vent their frustration, the company launched a limited-time deal, offering select customers a free voice line, which they can claim through the T-Life app.

T-Mobile is by far the best and third excellent customer service is second to none.
I strongly disagree with that statement, I kept getting charged fees and they now charge $10 to talk to customer service about billing questions. They shut my service off and charged me a restoration fee even though I got a confirmation notice. They include the confirmation code in the memo of your debit or credit card so you can see it in your online banking.

However, even after notifying them of their mistake, they charged me another $38. All told, it cost me more than my monthly bill. After getting my service restored, almost exactly 7 days later they shut my service off again and charged me another $20 restoration fee. I moved to Mint Mobile

Moved from Verizon to T-Mobile several years ago and couldn't be happier. T-Mobile offers a competitive advantage that both ATT and Verizon severly lack. 5 years ago they still didn't offer unlimited data and given their history I wouldn't be surprised if they still do unless you're on the highest tiered package.

You must have a TEMU T-Mobile look-alike because the T-Mobile that I use has a great customer service.

I've been a customer of theres for 10 years and have, previously, had nothing but good experiences with them. This horrible customer service, canceling my service and then charging me to talk to a customer service rep is all a relatively new thing. I noticed last summer that their customer service was starting to go down hill, but the real problems didn't start until January. So, just a headup, the reason I was willing to pay more for Tmo was that they had great customer service. Without that customer service, I'm just another in a spread sheet to them and they're just another bill that costs too much for what I'm getting.

Only for the Post-paid customers...!

For pre-paid customers... they don't give a rat a**...! And their T-Life mobile app sucks for pre-paids...!
Let's be honest, 90% of today's customers are on a monthly subscription, perhaps T-Mobile or even Verizon are not what you are looking for.

Rubbish...! I've been a pre-paid t-mobile customer for 16 years...! If they could not treat pre-paid customers similar to post-paids... they shouldn't have offered the pre-paid plans to people to begin with...! They sure can trick and con the post-paids a lot easier than pre-paids...!

You are absolutely right there should be any difference in service, and they are more likely to mistreat subscribers than prepaid, but unfortunately that's how shitty the corporate world works.

I bring you an example... If your are t-mobile postpaid customer you can easily transfer your physical SIM to eSIM including porting your number using their website...! You cannot do that as a pre-paid...! You have to either call them or go to one of their stores...!
