Which iPad Model Should You Get? Updated With the Latest 2025 iPad Models

"Most notably, the A14 SoC and 4GB of RAM pale in comparison to the Apple M2 and 8GB offered by the iPad Air. That also makes it the only current model that can't run Apple Intelligence, which utilizes on-device processing."

That right there might make it the most attractive feature.

Its still the same old story in finding the correct choice of hardware. Choose the software you plan to use to make sure there is sufficient computing power and precision (e.g. Apple still does not do many engineering apps very well). Choose the place you plan to use the software - portable in 1 hand, portable in 2 hands or fixed location at a desk/table. Choose the size of the objects (text, pictures) you can comfortably see without over zooming (e.g. spreadsheets are tough on a Mini). Then pick the least expensive.

And then there is the Apple :cachet. Which American wannabe techie would be caught dead without an Apple product? Pick the cheapest and give the balance of the money to charity.

I will get the model that doesn't use fast fashion to make people look down on me for not having the latest model in an attempt to force me into a consumerist culture

Most "techie" people I know do not use apple products, since they value owning their device and not dealing with silly restrictions.

Silly restrictions like not receiving updates because it's restricted by

a) the phone vendor
b) the carrier
c) your region
d) all of the above?

I'm currently using an OLD iPad (the first with Retina display).
It sits in my bathroom so I can listen to Youtube videos while in the shower - along with a JBL portable speaker.

These things change so quickly over a long period of time, I doubt I'll buy another one any time soon, but when I do, it'll have USBC and all the other upgrades.

I still have the original iPad, but I handmedowned it (along with my iPhone XS and 12 Pro Max) to my parents.

The big iPhones are more than enough for me.
