Which is better?

On a Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL

that takes

Four 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM sockets
Support for DDR 400, DDR 333, and DDR 266
Support for up to 4 GB of system memory

which way is it better to go.

get two sticks of 2 gb ram each or get 4 sticks of 1 gb ram each? which is faster and better for the computer?

Hi
I would use the 2x2g rather than 4x1g for reasons of less power taken from the dimm slots in the mobo. It might actualy be faster that way too, all other mem settings being equal. Make sure you place the mem in slots designated to support/enable dual channel memory access, if you can.
