Windows XP login problems. Please help

i used a program called "starter" to disable some programs from starting up when windows starts. im not sure if thats the cause of my problem, but now i start my comp, and after the black 'windows xp' screen it comes to a login screen with my display pic and my login name next to it (never did this before), i click on it, and it logs me in, and then logs me out after a few seconds..... it never did this before. does anyone know what to do?

Boot in Safe Mode (F8 after machine starts up) and set everything back to normal. You probably stopped something you shouldn't have.
If that doesn't work you might have to use the recovery cd to repair XP.

i have tried booting in safe mode, the same thing happens. Can you please tell me more about your other idea? please go into detail as to how to do it.

Thankyou very much for your help. I am currently unable to try your idea, because i cant seem to find my XP CD, but as soon as i get it, i'll try it for sure. i hope it works.
