Sanford Wallace, known as the "Spam King" because he... well is a Spam King, has agreed to stop trying to infect computers with spyware, pending the results of a federal lawsuit against him. It is alleged that Wallace used spyware to infiltrate computers, overwhelming them with ads and other programs. It is then alleged that he subsequently tried to sell programs he claimed would fix the problems that did not work. US District Judge Joseph DiClerico issued a temporary restraining order against Wallace in October to prevent him from sending ads. Wallace claims that he is being unfairly targeted because of his past involvement in junk e-mail. No date has as yet been set for the trial.
