IBM will extend its eServer Cluster 1350 when it adds support for Opteron single and dual core servers. Availability is from mid-July, with prices starting at $2,259.
The Cluster 1350 will support the AMD Opteron LS20 for BladeCenter, and IBM said this is the only integrated cluster offeing which includes AMD64 dual ore tech i a blade based node.
IBM also claimed it was the first major OEM to introduce Opteron support when the chips were launched in 2003. Well, we're not soo sure about that claim.
