A lifetime achievement award has been given to Alan Cox at the LinuxWorld awards in London on Wednesday night. The award particularly recognised the work that Alan has done on the Linux kernel. In accepting his award, Cox emphasised the strength of open source development, claiming that it "works because we all walk the path together." Cox has been involved with writing the Linux kernel since 1991, and is pretty much number two in the Linux movement behind good old Linus.
