If you have a spare $999.99 lying around and can't stand not having the latest technology, you'll be excited to hear about Pioneer's latest device to market. Their BDR-101A is emerging into stores as one of the first BluRay DVD Burners, already available at certain online sites. Released before HD-DVD burners have seen the light of day, but significantly higher priced than other soon to be released BluRay burners from other companies, we've been expecting this product, though I don't recall it being announced at this price. I don't know what Pioneer is thinking, but for that much plus the $48 per disc cost, the $500 variants from NEC and Toshiba are probably worth waiting for. Then again, if you absolutely must try it right now - Pioneer's your friend.
