One of the first speed upgrades to DVD burning speeds is being unleased by Sony. The new Sony DRU-830A only brings a marginal increase, but one nevertheless, with burn speeds for DVD+R media up to 18x. Aside from the slight speed bump across the board, it's got everything you'd normally expect from a DVDRW drive, such as 2MB of cache. There's an external model as well, the DRX-830A, with USB 2.0 support. The drives are priced in line with most other DVD burners, at $90 for the internal mode and $130 to $150 for the external, slated for a December release.
