Earlier this year Acer joined the PC Gaming Alliance with the goal of building machines that are both affordable to consumers and can run the vast majority of games. However, if rumors are to be believed, then Acer's machine will have a unique twist in that it will effectively be a games console.

According to Vice President, James Wong, Acer is discontent with today's closed systems - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii - and would offer its own "open system" based on PC technology, making games development an easier and less expensive venture on Acer's "console." There isn't much more to tell at the moment, so feel free to take the news with a pinch of salt.
