Doug Bowser is the new vice president of sales at Nintendo, the company has confirmed. Also confirmed, Doug has no relation to King Koopa or anyone else from the Nintendo mythos. The aptly named Bowser will play a key role in the company's national sales strategies, most specifically at retail.

While Mr. Bowser has certainly never appeared in a Nintendo game, he has had his fair share of experience in sales at the corporate level. After a tenure at Procter & Gamble, Bowser went on to play a major role at EA as the vice president of global business planning.

Nintendo said he will be managing a number "of sales-related functions, including in-store merchandising, retail strategy, and retail marketing." Nintendo of America's executive VP of sales and marketing, Scott Moffitt, seems to think he is well suited for the job as well: "Doug Bowser is an outstanding addition to our Nintendo team, as he brings a deep blend of both consumer package goods and video game sales experience."

While only time will tell if Bowser will fit with Nintendo as well as his name may suggest, Nintendo is on the up-swing having announced its first annual profit in four years recently.
