Hands on: Samsung's 2025 premium clamshell is a bit of a paradox: Compared to the Flip 6, it has bigger displays inside a thinner body. Even before I opened the Galaxy Z Flip 7, I could tell there had been some major changes. The hinge is nearly 30% smaller than the one on the Flip 6, Samsung said.

Hands on: Samsung has, for the first time in a while, actually impressed with its new foldables. These aren’t a rehash or a letdown. They’re a massive leap forward, and I’m beyond excited to spend more time with them.

Hands on: The Z Flip 7 is slimmer than its predecessor, too, but only by about a millimeter when the phone is closed. It felt like the same phone to me. There are some meaningful upgrades, starting with a larger 4,300mAh battery. The Flip 7 also supports DeX and allows you to use Gemini Assistant on the cover screen — both features that were curiously missing from earlier versions. But better late than never. It has the same water and dust resistance (IP48) as last year.

Hands on: Mind you, if Samsung had to choose between offering a bigger, more usable cover screen and a display-eating (but photography-enhancing) rear camera module on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, I’m glad it’s prioritized the former. That’s what this new phone is all about – bigger, better displays, and the Flip series no longer feels one step behind the competition thanks to these major design changes.
