3Dmark Vantage, Cinebench


When running the high-performance profile the Alienware Area-51 m15x does quite well in 3Dmark Vantage, producing a greater CPU score when compared to the E7200 desktop system.

The GeForce 9600 GT featured in the E7200 desktop did slightly outscore the GeForce 8800M GTX of the Area-51 m15x notebook though only marginally.

As if was necessary to mention it, using the balanced profile (while running on battery) performance is insufficient for running 3d applications and should be exclusively used while on Windows or using productivity applications.


Interestingly the PCmark Vantage results are not as kind, and the Alienware Area-51 m15x struggles to compete with the E7200 desktop system in both the gaming and music tests. Still, for a notebook the results are quite impressive.


When testing with CINEBENCH R10 the Alienware Area-51 m15x does quite well, matching the performance of the E7200 desktop system.
