Dear friends,

Again I have a problem with my PC. When I start it, nothing works. I noticed from the Windows task Manager that the file svchost.exe is taking 100% of the usage. Now when I end the process everything's fine, but my sound files don't work, so I cannot listen to my mp3 or I see the videos without sound. If I post any of my logs they will be after I terminated the process, since otherwise I won't be able to do anything. Can you help me?
Thank you very much!

P.S.

My AVG didn't find anything. I don't have Windows Service Pack 2 installed.
Best regards

Your system is infected with malware and you`re running an outdated version of Hijackthis. You also need to rename HJT as per the instructions.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

Regards Howard :)

Hey Howard, it's me again,

I've done all steps till 12 and I'm posting my HJT-log and ComboFix. Tomorrow after work I'll go on with the last step. AVG Antirootkit didn;t find anything. Please let me know if I have to do anything.
Thank you

Please attach an AVG Antispyware log to your next reply.

Download Vundofix from HERE.

Double click the Vundofix.exe to run it.

Right click in the vundofix window and click add files.

Enter the full file path/s to the files you want Vundofix to delete and click the add files button, followed by the close window button. Click the remove vundo button and let Vundofix do it`s stuff.

This is the filepath you need to enter into Vundofix.

C:\WINDOWS\Config\bkabk.dll

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

Need2Find

Close control panel.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: Need2Find Bar BHO - {4D1C4E81-A32A-416b-BCDB-33B3EF3617D3} - C:\Program Files\Need2Find\bar\1.bin\ND2FNBAR.DLL

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {52B1B74F-AEA7-41F3-A239-FC8C3AA6DEA3} - blank (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://kl.bar.need2find.com/KL/menusearch.html?p=KL

O20 - Winlogon Notify: bkabk - C:\WINDOWS\

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winccf32 - winccf32.dll (file missing)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program Files\Need2Find<Delete the entire folder.

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log as well as an AVG Antispyware log.

Hello Howard,

I did everything that you said, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. I'm posting my new logs.

Best regards, Maria

Your HJT log is clean.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

Thank you, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. When I turn on my computer the svchost.exe blocks the system. When I terminate it, my sound files won't work. Maybe I should reinstall Windows?

Hi,

What do you mean exactly by svchost.exe blocks the system? If you find it hogging up most of the resources, please try the following.

Turn off your automatic updates.

Try installing this updater.

next, reinstall KB927891 here

Then try turning updates back on again.

I hope this helps solve your problem.

Glad to be of help.

This is with regards to your previous infection.
Often times, an infection can occur again not due to the incompetence of programs, but because of user habits.
