I plan on building a Gaming PC. I have no set budget which basically means I am browsing for parts and open for suggestions and or recommendations. I have two monitors so I am going to buy a PCI card that supports 2 monitors.

This is the Case I Want, open for any and all feedback http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

Next i am going to buy is my PSU and MOBO

MOBO: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2456794&CatId=2050

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2945260&CatId=2050

PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2974582&CatId=2036

I am unsure what PSu to get as i dont Know the Watt requirement my desirable PC will have :(

I definitely could use some help here..^

Edit: Another PSU consideration http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2776974&CatId=2036

Not bad

However id go with newegg on all my parts, it is easier to take care of problems if all your stuff is on one order and newegg is for sure cheaper on everything...Tigerdirect sometimes comes ahead with its rebate deals but who has the time to wait 12 weeks for a rebate ? Also newegg is super easy to work with RMA's, tigerdirect is not so good at RMA's.

Also that case is very nice, some members here have the same one and give it a good feedback.

Seems that you are at a toss up between AMD and Intel as you chose a motherboard for each CPU type. For gaming I would suggest you forget about the AMD choice as the Intel offerings blow AMD out of the water right now.

Your PSU will depend mainly on what and how many componants you have in the case mostly the video offering you choose as some of the higher performance cards such as the 8800 series eat a lot of juice.
In most cases even with a 8800GTX you will be fine with a PSU in the 550 watt range however bigger is always better and offers headroom for additional upgrades.

I know you said you didnt have a outline price range however everyone has an idea on the max they want to spend on somthing. If you give us a max price range to work with we can better help you out choosing some parts...

Lol Yes im glad i own my PS3 Halo lol i paid a G for it around Dec but thats nothing compared to what im going to waste on this PC build.

Well I am NOT buying all these all at once so it will be multiple orders lol cuz yes I am poor and i am waiting to get this great job.

Any how heres a mobo from newegg i am feeling: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188013

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371001

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002

If you can find something similar to the one i had from tiger it would be great lol the led blue lights make it look awesome IMO.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115002

Prolly might buy the cheaper one idk about 532$ for a processor yet..suggestions?

CPU fan and sink: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134

Video card/GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130072

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130081

I think this might be where i have the most difficulity. There is a forum we all talk on defending DX9 and 10. I plan on buying Company of heoroes, C&C 3 and a few other PC games i cannot think of as of now. Suggestions..

Well so far im basically looking at spending $1600 not including my HDD. RAM, NIC card, Sound card, DVD/CD-ROM drives..and let me know if im missing anything else besides Keyboard and mouse, i have monitors already lol.

I'm really not trying to spend over $1000 on the parts i have NOT listed. I am also considering hooking up a water cooled system into this RIG..But first lets build!

Suggestions/Recommendations anyone? :D

Edit: LMAO and AMD is not an option, I am definitely going to go with Intel 100%. RAM consideration: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227198

oo yes and this case still http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 unless....???

Hang on a sec.....
...if i understand correctly, you say you are buying them at different times cos you don't have the capital right now???
If its a new sytem, then forgive me, but that's really senseless pal.

eg. buy a conroe E6600 today, but don't buy the rest of the parts till you have the cash. By the time you do have the cash, the E6600 will have dropped in price quite a bit before you've even used it.
I did this once, it was the dumbest move i ever made concerning PC's.
Seriously dude, get all your money together first then buy ALL at the same time. You may even get a discount for spending over a certain amount.
:)

Yea that is the Idea. To not buy all the EXPENSIVE parts first. CPU Videocard are the last two things i am going to buy. E6700 is the CPU or the C2 QUad. Case, Mobo, RAM, HDD, Fans and PSU are the things i am going to buy first.

Trust me I am not dumb i have watched the Core2 duo drop from 500$ down to 300 So therefore I am not going to buy CPU or GPU because newer models keep coming out! I know how to shop.

But anywayz thanks :D

Back to parts suggestions and recommendations.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to come across as condescending. Its just that i did it before and its an easy trap to fall into especially if its your first build and get over zealous in buying bits way before you can use them.

Ok, so back to your parts;
PSU, to me 700w is overkill, so i'd go for:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817811006
Your choice of case is good, everyone likes the 9000.
CPU - yep quad core, although hardly anything uses all 4 cores right now, so wait for the price drop.
DX10 games won't really be seen until next year either so i'd stall on your choice of card if i were you.

To be honest, the rest sounds good to me, but then you don't seem to be budgeting, so go for broke, lol.

Get a good hdd though. WD Raptors are good, but expensive, in the UK they are £1/Gb !

It's all good...apologies if i came off as well

The PSU i chose it because it is SLI certified and Basically I am building a SLI gaming PC so I would like the SLI on as many parts as possible plus 700W is not bad because too much power wont hurt especially If i play on buying additional parts or having Two videocards bridge connected. This PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817116002 is the actual one I think i might buy. Good rating and it looks nice. Due to the fact my case has blue lighting why not coordinate??? Lol

Preferably help me browse for a decent videocard then. The Dx issue has been and is well disputed on this site. Correct me if im wrong, but most games are Dx10 Compatable right?
Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102096 This seems like a decent DX9 card...

Wow, looks like a nice system! The quad core would be overkill right now, the E6600 or E6700 would be a much better investment. You should be able to play DX9 games just fine with a DX10 capable card, otherwise people wouldn't be buying them due to the fact that there are very few games that use DX10.

Here is a site you can check out for your power supply requirements: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

few parts new gaming pc Should have :)
amd built!

amd 6000+
2x 8800gts/gtx (depending on budget)
1000w thermaltake psu
? x dvd/cd rw
320+gb hdds
a decent-age mobo ranging from 70+ (compatible for am2 and sli)
3gb + ram (many new games require atleast 1.5)

Nice cards, but again its still overkil for the timebeing. Nothing can really take advantage of the SLI you want to use. DX10 cards in theory were/are supposed to be a little better at running DX9 games, but pound for pound, price over performance you won't get your money's worth. And by the time the games that can fully integrate DX10 come out, your hardware will be half the price at best. As nickslick74 said, go C2D, nothing uses quad cores yet. I've just built a rig with quad core for high end 3d rendering and it flies.
Again as for you psu, there are plenty that are certified SLI at 450W. I'm not saying go for one of those, but it shows that SLI certifieds don't have to be aircraft engines. With PSU's, more wattage is better as long as its a qaulity psu cos it regulates power better. Definitely no need to go OVER 700w though.

Ok I bought the Antec900 case for 90$...What shoud i get next. Im thinking about the Mobo, PSU and RAM next.

Ram is really cheap in the uk right now, i suspect its the same in the US?
Might be worth getting that now.

I disagree

HeHe, try to SLI 2 8800GTX GTS or even the lighter GTS 320 on a 450watt PSU and see what happens. Granted I do not agree that everyone needs a 1000watt PSU however you do need to take into concideration certain aspect of PSU ratings and system requirments, that said, for 2 modern video cards in SLI or Crossfire, a quality 650-700watt PSU is right on the money.

Along with the wattage rating you also need to look at the +12v amps. Your standard decent 450watt SLI PSU is only putting out maybe an average of 25 amps total for the PSU. Usually the higher the wattage you go, the more amp output you can generally get. The 600watt Xion PSU you posted had really good specs giving a total of 40amps on the +12v rails. These new cards suck power, enought said....

I have a XFX 8800GTX, right on the box it lists:

POWER SUPPLY ADVISORY :

NVIDIA MINIMUM POWER REQUIRMENTS

*450watt or greater (with a +12v currant rating of 30A

XFX RECOMMEDED POWER SUPPLY REQUIRMENTS

* Non-SLI 600watt

*SLI: 800watts or greater

I have also owned a GTS and the specs are not to much differnt so with that said, you are not out of line wanting a 600watt PSU

Excuse me ? Have you at all looked at the benchmarks for the G80's ? Theory my behind !! How can you even say that the performance is not there ? A single GTX boasts the ability to walk right on by most 79xx cards, IN SLI TO BOOT !!

So let me get this right, you are telling him that he should probably just get 2 premium DX9 cards (which are priced decent enought however still not dirt cheap) and gamble that DX10 does not a big jump anytime soon ? Basically he should invest $400 now into old tech and have to upgrade again in less than a year, waisting that $400 ? Id rather just buy a single 8800GTX for $100 more and be done with it.

Yes my eyes are set on a 700-850 watt PSU, thing is i dont want to pay ridiculous money for a PSU that i would pay for mobo. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002 700W PSU

Ram:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227198

And GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082

All on this EVGA mobo (I kno there are plenty of other parts like CPU i need to get a DVD ROM Etc..) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188013

Sounds good anyone agree??

Also I will buy two of those GTS cards, but not at the same time :D

Quick concern. If I buy the EVGA board which memory standard is DDR2 1200, will it matter if i buy standard memory the is DDR2 800??? If it does then i think i might be forced to reconsider my build because I can buy another board that is perhaps more money but that memory standard will be DDR2 800....

Yeah, RAM is relatively cheap here right now as well. Probably because of DDR3 being on the horizon, though who knows how long until there are a lot of mobos to support it...
