Ads killing forum load speed

Oh my - can we please get rid of that ad that talks really loud? It's a girl talking about how she's gonna tell me how to speed up my computer - but I don't see an actual banner. Scared the mess out of me tonight as it was really loud and I thought a young woman hand broken into my house!

Audio ads should be off limits for any reputable site. It's the absolute most annoying form of direct online advertising.

I'll take popups any day...

The ad should be gone in the next hour or so (since I have to wait until the ad network updates their system) but I put it out of rotation already, sorry for this though it went up without notice.

LoL Papa, that ad freaks me out as well. I really hate ads with any type of sound, or sound on a website for that matter.

It got me the first time, but that was the only time I saw it, or heard :)
But I am glad it is gone, because I don't think that represented TS very well.

Thanks much Julio ;) I can now stay in here with the lights off again.

Alright it appears that talking ad is back. We need to seriously contact them and let them know to not let this happen again.

....and just WHAT is this affinity you have with surfing with the lights off anyway? ;)

I just logged in from work, like I always do in the morning...and forgot my speakers were turned up (listening to music last night before leaving)...that chick's voice came on, and LOUD...I turned the speakers down as fast as I could, but a couple of people stuck their heads in my office and asked if there was someone in here with me...talk about embarassing...

I have not fallen victim to this talking chick ad.

Hang around....you will. First time I heard it some time back it scared the crap right out of me.

This couldn't be more annoying... meaning I have blocked all these 'audio' ads supposedly but they are still coming up so I have to go and check campaign per campaign... but I have to admit it has to be even more annoying having to 'hear' the actual ads so I'm checking...

BTW, I'm back home... just got here a few hours ago, catching up with everything as you can imagine after 3 weeks of vacation (not from TS entirely but the rest of stuff) so you will hear again from me on a daily basis as it used to be.

BTW, I have also heard you are having trouble with some Tribal ads slowind down the pages... I will talk to them tomorrow about this issue.

As for the audio ads, those should be gone but please let me know if you still see them around. Thanks!

OK currently in opera the tribalfusion one at the top isn't there, but the space reserved for it is. In IE the box where it appears says page cannot be displayed.

Right now on this thread I clicked go to first unread post, and it took me about 60 seconds to get it to jump down here because it was waiting on itxt.vibrantmedia.com

So for me, tribalfusion isn't really a problem as of recent, it just never loads. itxt.vibrantmedia.com is the one that kills my browsing expierence on this site because it effectively makes the go to first unread post thing worthless. I can manually scroll down a page with 40 posts per page (or whatever the max you can set it to is) and still have a minute before it would go on its own. Sometimes it only delays for a few seconds, more often than not its up at about 60 seconds, and occationally over 90 seconds.

Also I have noticed it seems the itxt one almost never (or never) occurs if I don't click that go to first unread post link.

That's a good point Dave, I always go to first unread post. And 10 times out of 10 I scroll down on my own anyway, and beat the loading of vibrantmedia.
And sometimes when I try to type in my response it goes really slow, and jumpy, because it is still trying to load. So I have to hit the STOP button to make it quit loading so I can type in my response without it being all jumpy.

Heh, yep, I think thats Opera though (if you are still using that). Because I got about 1/3 of that last post I had typed when it was all jerky like that before the itxt loaded.

It's definately a problem with Opera.

I've gotten so used to hitting esc when starting to type a new message, it's allmost become second nature to me...

It might be some of the same with NS 7.1, but not really sure. (It's been a while since I used NS on a forum with a quick reply box, and whenever I click on Quote, I allways use "open in new tab")

I will talk to Vibrant Media guys and see if there is a work around for that problem, I can tell you however that I have used the forums under different configurations, ISPs and browsers and never had that problem... I never use Opera though.

As for Tribalfusion slow down, here's the response I got today:
At the time you sent your email, our ISP was upgrading their routers on their
fiber backbone, and would explain problems you were seeing.

Let us know if you continue to see problems and sending a traceroute or tracert
to 208.185.101.170 would help in identifying the problem.

Now it has happened 3 times when I click on a link here in the forums that I have to sit and wait 3 minutes for the a.as-us.falkag.net ad!

This is just crazy... Browser is Opera 7.23, and it literally does nothing during those 3 minutes... I only geta white screen, and the message that it is queued for transfer... Then when it is finnished after 3 minutes it only take a couply of sends to load the "real" data... (even on my dialup..)

I too am having problems with that a.as-us.falkag.net ad, although I don't wait as long as Per I do wait a while. Getting a pretty consistent 30-31 seconds to load that ad up. After the 30 the page does load the text (previously there is nothing - just blank page)

Then also after it loads I wait another 22 seconds to load up z1.adserver.com.

I am using the same browser as Per, but I also switched back to IE to see if it was just Opera related. Interesting thing happened then, the page didn't load up (just like in Opera) and it poped up my dial up connection box, I hit cancel because I just use my cable rather than dial up and then the page loads up. But it always wants to dial up before anything loads on the page.

I have uploaded new code for the a.as-us.falkag.net ads that come from Rydium Network. Your problems might have to do with their servers slowing down or something similar but I have replaced their slower Javascript code with a more isolated Iframe code which back us up in those cases.
