Highly anticipated: We knew that AMD's latest Ryzen 7000 processors were arriving soon and now thanks to company boss Dr. Lisa Su that timeframe has been narrowed down: before the end of September, with many reports putting September 15 as the exact launch date.

During AMD's second-quarter earnings call, CEO Su confirmed that the highly anticipated Zen 4 CPUs and new AM5 motherboards are set to launch in the current quarter, ending on September 30.

"Looking ahead, we're on track to launch our all-new 5nm Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and AM5 platforms later this quarter with leadership performance in gaming and content creation," Su said.

Several outlets report that AMD will announce its next-gen processors in the first week of September (or the end of August) before launching them on September 15.

The CPUs were previously expected to arrive sometime in the fall, which is between September 22 and December 22, so it seems AMD could launch its chips earlier than originally planned. You might remember that Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 CPUs were announced in October 2020 and launched the following month.

Pricing for Ryzen 7000 processors remains a mystery. While it should be taken with a grain of salt, Paul from YouTube channel RedGamingTech (via Notebook Check) has given some figures, though even he admits these could change before launch, especially if Intel pulls out some pricing surprises with Raptor Lake.

  • Ryzen 5 7600: $229
  • Ryzen 5 7600X: $299
  • Ryzen 7 7700X: $349
  • Ryzen 7 7800X: $449
  • Ryzen 9 7900X: $549
  • Ryzen 9 7950X: $799

The September launch date lines up with previous rumors of Zen 4 arriving that month. It was also claimed the Ryzen 7000 chips would replicate the Ryzen 5000 series and skip the Ryzen 7 7700X in the initial launch lineup.

AMD promises Zen 4 will come with an impressive 35% performance increase over Zen 3 and much-improved clock speeds. The processor showed off at Computex, believed to be a prototype of the Ryzen 9 7950X, ran at 5.5 GHz on "most" threads when running a Ghostwire Tokyo demo, and the company later confirmed the CPU was not overclocked. AMD also said the 3D V-cache technology used in the Ryzen 7 5800X3D would be part of the new series.

Elsewhere, Su said its RDNA 3 Navi 3x graphics cards and 5nm Epyc Genoa server chips are on track to launch later this year.

As for AMD's financial results, the company lived up to expectations and announced an excellent quarter that saw revenue hit $6.6 billion, up 70% year-over-year, while its non-GAAP net income was $1.7 billion, up from $778 million a year earlier. It's a stark contrast to Intel, which announced a 22% year-on-year revenue decline of $15.3 billion and a $454 million net loss. As a result, AMD had briefly become more valuable than Intel, but Chipzilla once again has the larger market cap.

The most recent Steam survey showed AMD taking its largest processor share to date (33%). That figure could climb even higher once Zen 4 arrives.

Might be time to replace the old i7-7700 - “Don’t overclock it” - K. Looking forward to the benchmarks.

Looking forward to product details / price (not expecting Zen 4 to be cheap) first and actual benchmarks next. Seems like AMD really plugged the leaks this time.

$60 diff going from 6C to 6C, $50 diff from 6C to 8C, but $100 going from 8C to 8C?

We'll know soon enough I guess.

These sound like gaming monsters, especially with 3d cache. If Zen 4 thumps Alder Lake, that may explain why Intel is pulling the RLake rollout forward. They can't let AMD be seen to hold the gaming throne again.

They say greater than 35% performance gain, but even if it's 20%, that's a GIANT leap ahead of the measly 5% we used to get from the Intel monopoly period. Heck, with the 3D cache models, this is going to be a killer gaming CPU.
Yes, Intel has been dealing everyone the "Go Directly to Jail" card in their game of Monopoly.

Please release early, Chips will sore due to china and taiwan tension, and this is bad for semi conductor industry.

AMD flies under the radar and actually delivers what they say unlike Intel's growing list of delays and now the strong possibility Arc will be cancelled. Even cRaptor Lake will be a paper launch in September with actually good supply a few months later.

2600k to 6700k was not 5%. More like 40+% in cinebench. Get your facts straight man

IMO, we will have to take a wait and see attitude on prices. Personally, I am especially interested since I have been waiting for AM5 to do at least one new build.

However, with this news - https://money.yahoo.com/amd-intel-pc-market-is-falling-apart-093900149.html perhaps AMD will be reluctant to take an attitude that their customers will be willing to pay any amount for the 7000 series and will price them less aggressively. At least that's my hope.

You know I'd love to get my hands on this latest gen. But I got tired of waiting on 5000 series availability and finally grabbed a iCore 10th gen CPU instead. I just can't justify the upgrade, really no need for what I use my comp for. Well them's the breaks I guess.
