Ok yes i am going to swap hdd and no im not "transferring" my os. I have obtained a XP Home Edition cd. i am going to uninstall the OS off my "modded" Hp computer And reinstall it on my new computer with the key like Obi-Wan suggested. I am only using the Xp on one computer and i am erasing it before i put my HDD in the "new setup." i am not stealing software im deleting the whole HDD before i start again.

Blah starting over is a pain...I wouldn't care if you did "steal" it lol but remeber that you will have to get service pack 2 or 3 and you will not have word, outlook, or any video encoding or video playing software. Also you will have to type in your password to get back here, it won't remeber you.

It's Like Deja Vu, All Over Again........

OK, before XP Home w/ SP2b is brought up to date, WITHOUT SP3 there are about a hundred updates that need to be downloaded. So, big whoop on the XP CD with SP2.

We went through two full pages trying to select a power supply for you. Right here, your thread titled "PSU Help Please" http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic107370-2.html

And we seem to be right back on it again, in this thread. Now, make up your mind, buy something. At the end of the day, anything that's been suggested is worthwhile in the amount of money you have to spend. This really can't go on ad infinitum.

Yeah, it will work, since it'd be a fresh install.

Yes, you will notice a difference but you will be fine as long as your mobo says it supports Pentium D(Which is says it does.). And the IDE-SATA adapter should (apparently) work, I wish you luck with your build. :)

You would notice if your using apps that take more proceses than the pentium D can deliver. Then the core 2 duo would be faster.
