Character freezes randomly in Oblivion

I recently bought Oblivion, and while I'm enjoying the game so far, I've been having a problem. Often times when I play my character just freezes. It's not the game freezing or the FPS dropping, FRAPS says it's still up. Plus, everything in the environment moves just fine, however, I can't move or cast spells. All I can do is attack and block. It happens occasionally when I'm in a menu as well. Searching turns up nothing, so I'm curious as to whether somebody here can help me with this?

Specs: (Don't think they're important but oh well)
Windows Vista Home Premuim
2.13ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 8800 GTS

Install the latest graphics driver for your card and install all game patches. It is recommended that you uninstall the old driver before installing the new one. See if that helps.

Just tried that, even used a program to clean the older drivers, didn't work. As for patches, I'm using steam so the game is up to date

I don't know if this will help but try changing the compatibility mode to Windows XP. You can always change it back if you don't like the results.
