Elon Musk responds to Thai cave diver's criticism by calling him a "pedo"

The problem is that it also auto censors id!ot, like we're a bunch of children lol
That's not a problem either. It prevents taking aim at another member's mental capacity, whether fairly or unfairly.

And since, (as you're claiming at least), we're not children, there are some 200,000+ other words in the English language to get your point across, "the 'I' word", shouldn't be necessary.

So they leave the word in, then you call another member the I word, and your post gets pulled. Thus, you might get a warning, or even a temp ban. As I see it, we're sometimes being saved from our own baser instincts.

So, Wiki says: "Idi0t was formerly a legal and psychiatric category of profound intellectual disability, where a person's mental age is two years or less, and he or she cannot guard himself or herself against common physical dangers. Along with terms like *****, imbecile, and cretin, the term is now archaic and offensive".: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/*****

See, I learned something today. I had thought "cretin", meant uncivilized, bad mannered, or uncouth maybe, but never as a reference to mental capacity.

Incidentally, now that the auto censor has blanked the "word of the day" from the link to Wikipedia, it no longer works, but rather displays the page for "5 star" instead. :D

Yeah, but my point is that they're censoring non-vulgar words as if we're children (this is the only site that I've come across that does so, and fairly recently if I remember). We're all (probably) adults, we can handle the ***** word (or any other non-vulgar synonym). Or else, why not censor them all? :p

***** just so happens to be the most common. And, if anything, is a techies favorite insult (citing certain problems as being I.D.10.T problems lol)

So I guess you'll be leaving than?

So what if he's trying to grab headlines or whatever motivations he has, at least he's trying to help

It actually sounds more like he's demanding to be solely put in charge of helping, exclusively using his ideas and equipment.

His remark, "I'll bet you a signed dollar", is very, very, telling, of his agenda and self appraisal. I'll leave you to try and figure out why that is.

I realize this topic is way back on page 12 of our news forum. (my page 12 is likely your page 20 or so, as I use a vertical monitor for the web ), BUT, I found this intriguing account of how a 38 year old rebuilt machine, an oxygen booster pump aided in the rescue of victims of the cave flood in Thailand. And it had nothing to do with Musk's publicity mongering largess, of supplying a "mini submarine".

From "Firehouse, com"....

Sophia, WV - In January 2017, American Airworks refurbished a 1980 Haskel oxygen gas booster pump and exported it to EasyTek Engineering, a diving services company located in Thailand. When news of the soccer team's entrapment in a Tham Luang cave reached Easytek's owner, Stephen Burton, he offered his Haskel oxygen pump to the rescue effort. After two other oxygen pumps failed on the scene, his booster pump was thrust into the team's rescue efforts. His pump worked continuously for 72 hours during the final three days of the rescue efforts which resulted in saving the remaining lives of the trapped soccer team members.
