Graphic adapter help DirectX 9.0c

Okay here's one for you guys (same issue - sims2 won't play because I don't have DirectX 9.0c compatable graphics adapter) - I ran the DirectX diagnostic tool, and under display it tells me that the name and manufacturer, chip type, etc is 'n/a'. So that can't possibly be good.
The only other info I can gather is that its just using a generic video driver, something called VGA. I feel like the biggest computer retard ever.

As for specs, all I know is that it has a 3.20GHz processer, 1022MB RAM, and DirectX v9.0c (4.09), and I hate to admit this but I really don't know how to check to see if it has a video card or not, let alone what BIOS entry it has.

This driver should be yours. Save it to your hard drive, then double click on the installer icon and it should install by itself. Scroll down on the download page for instructions. And yes that video card is 9c compatable, and should play the Sims2 OK. If you have problems post back.

ok well i have the problem wen i get an error message saying make sure u have the DriverX 9.0c installed and well i have installed it like 5 times already and rebooted my computer !?!? and i don't know why its still not workin ?!

As the previous questions asked prior: what are your system specs?
To use the 3D aspect of DX9 (which most games need) you must have an "external" or compatible video adaptor. Having trouble finding what your specs are? go up a couple of posts to luvhuffer's (#55) and download everest as linked..

Like everyone else, it seems, I keep getting the pesky DirectX 9.0c notice whenever I try and play Sims 2. The odd thing is that I had played it on this computer before (about a year ago) with no complications.
Sorry if I'm not giving the right specs that you need... I'm not very good with the more technical parts of computers. xD

Okay, I installed the Sims 2 patch and it's still not working. I wasn't quite sure what to look up for the motherboard/graphics card... so far I've been unable to find drivers for Intel i752 for WinXP, nor can I find drivers for the Intel 82810E Graphics Controller.
If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

I have tried everything that you have been telling I have the right video card and even got a new one but I keep on getting that stupid error button.

How can I find out the name. I went to best buy and ask one of the guys on the geek squad. it was the one that was ask as a requirement on the sims 2 case. Please help me I just got sims 2 pets it worked fine intill my sister reboted the system now it gives me that directx 9.0 error. the old sims work but this wont.

Sounds a bit odd that it stopped working after a restart.

The sims 2 cant run oon 96mb of ram, 256mb is the min. I rn my sims on 1 gb of ram and it works fine.
sims 1. and now it gives me some error about directx 9.0. this happened once before and i had to change the target to -w and the color to 16 bit. later me and my dad got a new graphic card it works really well until my sister reset the computer now it wont work. I am very confused.

I'm having the same problem. I get the "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter..........." Error message, and I have the Direct X 9.0c installed. All I've managed to gathe from searching for answers is that I may not have the correct graphics card. Which doesn't help, because I have no idea what that is anyways.
But I did what the earlier post said:

The main component that the game is trying to find is the 3D component of DirectX, and with an onboard chip like that, unless its updated and such it (and even then) some don't even support 3D anyways. Although some games do offer workarounds eg: sims 2 in windowed mode etc.
You have two options, live with the intel and find the fixit for it or get a proper dedicated video card...

Thanks for your help. I found out yesterday from a friend that I needed a video card. But do you have any ideas on where I can get one and approx. how much it will cost?
Because if it costs too much, I'd rather just get rid of the game.
