Hiya Techspot. Just happen to discover this great list here and spend my boring time checking it out. The list is great at first but i feel there're still a lot games to add (yeah, i mean a lot). So i decided to drop in, share my little knowledge about "Great games that don't need great hardware to run". Hope these following names can help though:

    - Fate (no, seriously, look at this: pc.gamespy.com/pc/fate/657724p1.html)
    - Fifa and Pro Evolution Soccer series (i laughed at myself when realising that almost everyone forgot these)
    - Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition (don't know if it can actually run on low-end systems though)
    - Radiosurf (Surprise Surprise! ^^)
    - Tropico 1 & 2 (Another surprise!)
    - Alpha Centauri (I was like, "Uuuuuuuuukay... how come these guys forgot about Alpha Centauri?")
    - Speaking about 4x games.... Space Empires IV, Galactics Civilizations II: Dark Avatar (didn't see it in the list), Master of Orion series, Hegemonia, Imperium Galactica series, O.R.B,...
    - Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron series
    - Combat Mission series (except for Shock Force, these are must-have)
    - Age of Wonders and Disciples series (2 must-have TBS serieses if Heroes series is included)
    - Kohan 1 & 2 (Give it a chance, a perfect fusion of Warcraft 3 and Heroes series)
    - Poseidon (hey, Zeus is included, this is its expansion)
    - City building games huh? Right away: Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom, Pharaoh, Ceasar series, Startopia (okay this one is more like space station building)
    - Keepsake, the Broken Sword series (talk about how this list has Beyond Good & Evil and TLJ and lack these little pieces?)
    - Oh Star Wars, these are something you'll remember: X-Wing series and Battlefront series
    - Homeworld 2(don't tell me its crap, and it isn't in the list)
    - Nexus the Jupiter Incident (space sim, may not look it, but this game runs smoothly)
    - Talk about space sims, how come the Wing Commander series is left out?
    - More space sims madness: Descent series, Independence War series, Freelancer + Starlancer, Star Trek Bridge Commander, Jumpgate: The Reconstruction Initiative, Space Rangers series, Terra Nova, X series.
    - J-RPG? Oh yeah, FF7 & FF8 are already in the list, but how about Grandia II and Breath of Fire IV? (yeah they're on PC)
    - Now onto the W-RPGs: Divine Divinity & Beyond Divinty (silly names, good designs), Arx Fatalis(good with the patch), The Temple of Elemental Evil, Planetscape: Torment.
    - Suddenly remember a name: Championship Manager series!
    - Company of Heroes + Opposing Front, Codename Panzers series, Dark Reign series, Battle Realm, Battle for Middle Earth series, Dungeon Keeper series, Empire Earth 1 & 2, DEFCON (didn't think this one was that good though), Warhammer 40k series, Darwinia (a good surprise for realistic RTS worms), Medieval Total Wars + expansion, Act of war Direct Action... Wow, talk about RTS madness!
    - SWAT series! And also Delta Force Black Hawk Down(the only good Delta Force game, shame), Soldier of Fortune[/B ]series, Chrome.
    - How come there are Unreal and no Quake?
    - Psychonauts! (surprisingly good platform games)
    - Ghost Master(It's funny that this game can't be classified as any other genre than RTS)
    - Everquest and Guild Wars (hey, WoW is included anyway)
    - Thief series (need i say more?)
    - Puzzle Quest!!! (You know this addictive little piece right?)
    - Sacrifice!!! (RTS, action, RPG, just what kind of game is this?)
    - Full Spectrum Warrior (Looks like a shooter, plays like a RTS)
    - Do i hear "Resident Evil" or "Silent Hill"? Didn't think so.

Looks like i've played too much old games now eh? Got to spend some time hanging out with my girlfriend now. So good day, Techspot, i'll return to this thread frequently to check out the new updates.
Oh, and sorry for not sorting them in alphabetic order. Sounds like hard work for Rage 3K now, really sorry.

Wow, CANNOT BELIEVE I forgot Resident Evil...

Anyway, Company of Heroes isn't very playable. It goes at 15 frames per second on that system, fyi.

Other than that, a Great contribution to the list.
  4. sIcKtEeN Newcomer, in training

Okay so Company of Heroes may not be playable (especially not Opposing Front) so it's out

I considered Supreme Commander for a while but remembering how my X1600Pro struggle with it so it's also out.

Today a little bit more sports games:
    - Tony Hawk Pro Skater series (yep, definitely)
    - NASCAR, Colin McRae Rally series, Midnight Club series, TOCA Race Driver series (you know, sometimes i forgot that NFS isn't the only good racing games on PC)
    - Chessmater series (hey, Chess is also a sport right??
    - Football manager series (okay, more like simulation but whatever)
    - Madden NFL series (Football all the way ^^)
    - NBA Live series (Americans sure like this sport)
    - NHL series (Hockey baby!)
    - Also forgot: Tiger Wood PGA Tour series

    Now to some other:
    - Shogun Total War (if this didn't exist in the first place, there'll be no Total War series right?
    - X-Men Legends II (feels like the replay value is never ended ^^)
    - Sea Dogs (ahhhhhh........ classic!)
    - Starsiege Tribes series anyone?
    - Crimson Skies!!!
    - Freedom Fighters (another classic)
    - Godfather (a great duet when sticking with Mafia)

And to actually check if your PC can run a specific game though, this is the place to visit (you should actually bookmark it): systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Okay, my head gone blank now. Maybe later then, i should get some rest at the moment. Again good day to Techspot.
P.S: Wing Commander is definitely in :)
P.S 2: My girlfriend is impatiently asking me to leave her PC so she could play Cabal Online XD
P.S 3: Speaking of which, Cabal Online is also considerable ^^

I'm thinking this thread should have been the other way around

High end games that require pure gaming computers
It may have not been so big of a thread.

And would have been interesting to know the new high end games of today matching the new Video cards, that just won't play on a new standard computer.

    Erm....

Oops, someones have already spoken my lines :). Oh and by the way "latest" doesn't mean "greatest" (You know i'm talking about "The Club", aren't you?). And i guarantee most people here would know the comeback of the classic Out of This world on PC right? It IS the true "latest and greatest" if you ask me, but at the same time, not a high end games. Hey, how about it? Out of This world in the list? :)

Anyway, just came back here because i suddenly remembered a name: Yu-Gi-Oh Power of Chaos and its 2 expansion. I've been playing them on my laptop and didn't mention them in my 2 previous post. Silly me ^^

What to do now? Oh yes...

Another excellent contribution to the thread by sIcKtEeN! Great job man, keep them coming! :grinthumb
@kimsland, there's no point in having a thread that goes against this one.

Left home for awhile and when i came back, checked my email from the friends i sent the page to. And i was surprised that they suggested me more games that silly me forgot to mentioned. Some i've played, some not, but still, check it out:

    - Syberia 1 &2 (Add this, quick!)
    - Armies of Exigo (This game could've been better, but still worth-playing)
    - Well, you can expect the same from Dragonshard
    - Darkstone (didn't play yet, but my dude said that it's good, guess i 've got to borrow him later ^^)
    - Another Sid Meier's game: Antietam!
    - And an American McGee's game: Scrapland
    - TRON 2.0 (I kicked myself like Rage for missing this out too)
    - Gunroar (Surprisingly fun open-source game, get it yourself at SourceForge.net)
    - True Crime (GTA lover will like this, except this time you play as a cop)
    - Cold War (try hard to not to be a Splinter Cell clone, and somewhat succeed)
    - Rogue Trooper (dated graphic it might be, but gameplay is the real treat)
    - Battlestation Midway (Unique!)
    - Star Wars Starfighter (A quick, short but somehow satisfying SW experience)
    - The Suffering 1 & 2 (Oooh, creepy!)
    - Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure (not for eveyone, but pretty solid game)
    - Still Life
    - Journey to the Center of the Earth (hard to accept the game, but this adventure has its own charms)
    - Advent Rising (Oh, if you've played Chaos Legion then you know the deal, it's the kind of game that reviewers hate and gamers love)
    - Didn't see the Spellforce series, but i guess it just doesn't suit low-end PC
    - I-Ninja (fun, but i guess we can't ask much from a short game)
    - Desperados (oh, how could we miss this one out?)
    - And how could we also foget Painkiller?
    - FIFA brother: FIFA Street series
    - The Nations (Funniest city building game ever)
    - Globetrotter (Unique game until now)
    - In addition to the Star Wars series: LEGO Star Wars
    - 2 similar but solid action game: Psi-ops and Second Sight

That's all i (or rather, we) can think up at the moment. For now, good day to Techspot!

I was going to say Freedom Fighters, but it looks like someone decided to include it in his list of 80+ games he thought should be added.

  17. mopar man TechSpot Ambassador Posts: 1,487

cubankid219, please, edit your posts and don't double/triple post. I know of no game that you play as a dragon.

I would like to thank all of the contributors to this list, as it has gave me game ideas and given me something to do... lol.

Actually, there's this game called "The I of the dragon",
you play a dragon, its not that bad of a game,
and besides, with this hardware, you can't be too picky :)

The 4th Coming. It's an old MMORPG, and most computers these days can run it (though it doesn't work well with Vista or whatever).
