    I have just completed Windows Update. I haven't used the computer much outside your software instructions, so I can't provide an accurate assessment. It's not moving as slow as it was, so that is a positive.

    After 3 or 4 days, the computer is working better. I have done Norton scans as well as Malwarebytes and it is now able to view any threats it detects. Now if I could only get IE9 to load pages faster. IE9 was part of the Windows Update performed in an earlier step. Any suggestions?

    Open IE, go Tools>Internet options>Advanced tab and click on "Reset" button.
    Restart IE.
    Better?
