Hello, hope you can help.

Hello every one and thank you for taking time to read this. My work is a pawn shop and i'm a tech there. They got a dell laptop inspiron 5100, and it's bios is passworded. I have been looking all over google, and really didn't come up with to much. Called dell a few times but no help, because i don't know who solded the laptop to us. Anyways, if i could get help, i would be very happy. Hope to get some help and i hope i can help others.

Ok, have now been able to get the dell laptop to bring up the fn-x on the screen with the jumper trick on the eeprom chip. I had trouble to get it as i was holding the jumper on as i was turning on the laptop, and not turning on the laptop then putting the jumper in place. The problem i'm having now it that i hit fn-x and nothing happens. After a few seconds the screen goes back to the bios screen and asks for a password. Do i hold the jumper on as i hit fn-x? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Well I got good news!!!

I managed to unlock my Dell D520 laptop.

I called Dell over a month ago and 6 times since then.
I filed 3 transfer of ownerships and got no response.

Today I called and finally they gave me the BIOS password.

TIP:
When filing a Transfer of ownership, if you do nt know the name of the original owner just put NA in the first and last name fields.
Leave the rest blank ( address, etc).

Then put in your info as new owner.
Use complete and accurate info.

Then call them every 3 days to ask if its ready.
After enough calls they will just give up the password.

Hope that helps someone out there in internet land.

Cheers.

hi guys!

i'm new here and i got a little problem with a dell latitude d420.
it always wants a password. so i decided to try it with shorting, but i read that this isn't a good idea because of the bios information stored in the chip. but i don't want to pay 50 dollar and more for a master password.
so service-tag is 4FQFF2J-595B, maybe someone can help me?

thx anyway

Still waiting for anybody that can help me out with D620

I posted a few days ago asking with help for my D620 that goes directly to BIOS password screen. I have seen in other posts and threads that the shorting method doesn't work on D620 so I assume that getting a password( either from paying Dell, paying somebody who has a 595b password generator, or asking for help in forumns like these) is the only solution. Does anybody know if there is a way to get passed that Dell gray screen of death without entering a password so that I can at least boot from USB or boot from CD??

I have read in multiple posts that the only way to get passed that screen is with a password, but I am beginning to think that these posts could have been written by the same people who are trying to get me to buy the password from them.

I would like to re-state to all New members, that there are FREE alternatives, than paying high costs.

Before deciding to accept any message on how you can pay to receive your passwords:
1. Read this entire thread (you are currently on) On many laptops, the passwords can be freely removed
2. Dell will supply you a password for under $40 only
3. Shop around. There are many pay for services out there, quite a few at eBay, and basically a Google search will find hundreds!

You have been informed
.
