:)
That comment doesn't make sense

Go back to Dell and get the correct code
Obviously it was mis-quoted or something

Anyway glad you can use and get the code from them, you're ok

thought this rustam guy could do it for free???
Who?
Oh that old member (now gone!)
I believe he changed usernames here on the forum (a couple of times)
But, I'm not aware if he still helps here.

The closest match now, would be hpgl (as he has helped others recently)
Otherwise it's Dell support, or the Paperclip proceedure

ah rite sry i didnt know that he was gone lol

thank you for clearing that up for me :D

ive already tried the paperclip method on my d531, but the EEPROM is a 25 series is it not and they can resist the shorting method :( :(

anyone know how to get in contact with Hpgl??

thank you

mmm i dunno like im abit skint until the end of the month, but it comes to it ill pay to get it unlocked :p

it's just my friends said that this forum had sum ppl on it that could do it for free

so im gonna try get it done for free if that possible :p

thank you

yeah if you want to pay :haha:

But most come here to get it for FREE (especially the advice)

Here's the best advice (I've repeated over and over)

Paying a private person is the absolute last option !

c0deage were you offered to pay someone?

erm.. no i wasnt mate Frocher was just sayin that he got his laptop unlocked from dell.com

ive already been on that website and they charge $60 thats about £30 for me which i dont have until i get paid at the end of the month :p

but it means ive got a about 3 weeks to ask hpgl and see if he/she can help me out :D:D

cheers

Good idea (other than Dell of course  )

Asking for payment, can be an instant ban on here.
But we don't know if this does not happen on the forum (unless others let us know)

Frocher's comment should be taken as the worst idea, obviously

Dell Latitude D420 Please Help

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum and in desperate need of some help, I am a student and several months ago bought the Dell Latitude D420 from a carboot sale to help with my studies. The laptop was wroking fine and I saved alot of work on it, when I tried to put my own password on it it locked me out. There is no way of me getting hold of the guy who sold it to me so now I am unable to access my work. There must be some way around this but I am no computer whizz, I do not even know where to start!

If anyone can help me sort this out I will be sooo grateful,

Thanks

king

wich is very slow and much boring :s
And cheaper and takes 1 day only

Although some members have commented on 3rd party external (expensive) methods. Dell does this for approx $36 only. Or do it yourself for free with the paperclip method.

i think some people here r 3rd party product supporter..only they can help to send you to money hungry sharks
service!! wich is very expensive and much stupid :s

But I'll let the real members (who actually are wanting help) decide what's best

System or Administrator Password

Okay i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i'm going to try. I bought a Dell Inspiron 1521 from a pawnshop. It didnt have a powercord with it so I figured it would be easy to get one off the internet. I got the powercord and booted it up and there is this white screen smiling at me saying i need to type in the system or administrator password.. Well I read about the paperclip thing with the eeprom thing. I dont trust myself shorting anything out. I was wondering if i bought a new motherboard for it if that would work or would I have to short the eeprom?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
I feel I screwed myself over
