H E R E's some info on putting your Service Tag back (again posted in the above link)

I have lots of quotes to supply, but all users should always check here first before creating a new reply: Dell Bios Password removal. Read this first BEFORE posting.

Good luck with your password retrieval, and remember never to buy (or obtain) laptops without the Service Tag installed, certainly a bad warning sign.

If the laptop came from someone you know, but can now not contact. Dell will likely help

Transfer of Product Ownership (US): http://support.dell.com/support/top...tag_transfer?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
International ownership transfer form: http://support.dell.com/support/top...ansfer_form1?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1

If all options have been tried, again Google is the only option left

Good luck :grinthumb

Its the actual numeric and alphabetic marking on the eeprom chip used to store the passwords.

The service tag is present just no sticker on the bottom of the laptop is there a way to retrieve it without being able to boot the computer?

Apologies on that mistake, thanks for the heads up.

No

Dell are very flexible. It should be stated that they should be the initial contact option
One member pleaded and pleaded to Dell, and they eventually helped him (I can find it if you like)

But regarding no Service Tag, good point, they will first ask you what you think it is, and then where you got it from (so would I)

The case was damaged that came with this laptop an so I replaced the case but I could not get the original stickers from the damaged case.

I've just heard of a lot of horror stories about Dell customer support being a little hard to deal with on these time of issues.

I won't waste anymore of your time going over things that have already been covered thanks for the info though.

That's an ideal statement to say to Dell

Good luck :grinthumb

I think I've covered everything here for you
But I have so many more quotes on past posts, I could go all day, I'm also helping on the other tech forums too

Good luck :grinthumb

Removing Bios on a laptop(help)

I finally fixed my laptop after 2 years and now i forgot the bios password, is there any way to bypass this it's a dell laptop inspiron e1705

Please help!

service tag: 9YGDDD1-595B password: trvxvus4
I like gold, how do you go for the gold?
I've been fixing computers for my friends for the last few years and prided myself in being able to crack any computer. Until this Dell Inspiron 1520. I've been reading all the posts and forums about eeprom chips now I'm and expert in 24CXX blah blah chips, only problem there is no 24C anything on the board I can't get to the bios or boot order or diagnostics and there is not very many references to this model on most of the forums. Tried all the ISO there are and ran out of disks but none of them worked. went over every chip on the board and some not on the board looking for the illusive eeprom 24CXX or 93CXX or 34-24-36 double D chip. But alas I'm this close to making a discus out of this laptop and go for the gold. So you guy's are my final hope before giving up.

Inspiron 1520 model PP22L

Express service code: 9YGDDD1-595B

Found a couple of possible eeprom chips SST 25VFQ168 8 pin looked promising and another ST chip I need to find my jewelers loop to see the numbers on. Oh well enough babbling on, any help is greatly apprieciated

Omnibook xt6200 lost bios password

hash code is 05712
many thanks

well i solved my problem with config or admin setup password in bios on latitude d600.
It' s very simple and solution is already on this forum, but here is how i did it.
You must remove your service tag and the admin or config password will be removed.
The method is for -595B chips

Here is the solution;
1. *make boot floppy diskette 1.44mb, in windows by clicking on format and create Ms-dos startup disk

2. download from
the file name dstcd, open it, pass is smellyalater and copy that folder to another diskette.

3. restart computer and press F12, boot first startup disk, than the dstcd diskette, then you have order svctag.exe and a rest is easy.

* The reason why I first make windows startup disk is because i couldn't boot system with dstcd diskette.

Were you able to remove the HDD password or just the bios?

Were you able to remove the HDD password or just the bios?
Well, in my case i didn't need to remove my hdd password, so I honestly don't know. But you can try it on your own, it cost you 5minute of your time, and you can always, after you delete your service tag put back old service tag so you are not on a lose.

And before you do that look on the forum what with hdd, i' m sure somebody was talked about that. Write all your tags if you have it before you do it.

A million thanks in gold

hpgl your awesome I cant thank you enough for your help. That password worked now I will just work on the HDD lock. I thought I had exhausted all options. I will sing your praises to all. In Gold......

No nothing else

If the above doesn't work then try other means (ie Google for some other 3rd party service)
TechSpot support is only free or manufacture help
