HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

I think that the big deal about the dell latitude passwords are that a lot of people got a master bios password generating program. it must be written by some programmers, just like the hackers who creates those password generating programs for games or other software. I think that with two service tags and their corresponding passwords they can easily write such a program..

Hey HPGL, you did it. The first password in the list, amg, did the trick. Many, many thanks as I'm working on this laptop for a friend for free and getting free support like you (and Kimsland) provide is in keeping with what we all should do (read: those who can), which is help others that simply don't have the means to get these fixed themselves, either the $$ means, the knowledge means or both.

Again, many thanks for the assistance. :grinthumb

Password Help

Need PW for Sytem Hash Code 10376

Installing new 160 HD for a friend who bought computer used about a year ago. Wanted to update bios to accept the new HD over the 137gb barrier. Solved that problem with ontrack disk manager cd I had. Had to dig to find it. Have Disk Image @ 18.4 mb if theirs somewhere on this site I can send it too.

Still would like access to Bios to update, but not happy about how its all being handled through eSupport now. Seems wrong to charge for bios support thru a $30 annual recurring subscription agreement. Sure I'll drop it before the year is up, but sounds like just another greyware site to me.

It's a HP Pavilion N5195 but after pulling the motherboard to see where the cmos battery was located, which is soldered in place, I don't want to pull it, I might screw it up. Motherboard is the same P/N as OmniBook XE3-GC.

PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
Phoenix Technologies Ltd.

HP PAVILION N5000 SERIES BIOS Version GC.M1.63
S3 VGA BIOS Version 53.01

Hope you can help me, thx

hpgl,
Thanks again for the password for a 5.5 year old HP Pavilion ze4906us with Hash Code 04997. I never got to use it, though.
I took the laptop apart and removed the CMOS battery from the motherboard, and ordered a new Maxell ML-1220 3.0v Lithium CMOS rechargeable battery for the motherboard, as the original one was over 5 years old, and that's their lifespan.
The original battery was removed from the motherboard for about 4 days, until the new battery came in.
I received the new battery today and installed it, then reassembled the laptop.
I turned it on and the BIOS was fully cleared, with no password required.

Basically, this is the same procedure recommended here to me by a HP Technician on live chat. Hope it helps those who need to replace the CMOS battery and/or clear the BIOS settings on the motherboard.
A non-rechargeable CMOS battery usually lasts about 3 years and costs about $5.00 (U.S.). A re-chargeable CMOS battery usually lasts about 5 years and costs about $12.00 (U.S.) including shipping. I would highly recommend replacing them BEFORE they die.

Real-time Chat with HP tech on Clearing the RTC (CMOS) Battery Settings:

1. Please shutdown the notebook, then disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the AC power adapter cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC power adapter from the computer.
3. Remove the main DC battery.
a. Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface.
b. Slide the battery release latch to release the DC battery.
c. Pivot the DC battery upward and remove it from the computer.
4. Remove the memory and WLAN (wireless card) module compartment covers.
5. Remove the memory and WLAN (wireless card) module.
6. Remove the RTC (CMOS) battery, if it is located in one of these compartments.
* (If you do not see the RTC (CMOS) battery here, it may be beneath the keyboard, or it may be located on the motherboard, and you must take the laptop apart to remove the RTC (CMOS) battery from the motherboard).
7. Remove the RTC (CMOS) battery from the socket on the motherboard.
8. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
9. Replace the RTC (CMOS) battery and reassemble the computer.
10. Connect the AC power adapter to the computer, then plug the AC power adapter cord into the AC outlet. Do NOT reinsert the DC battery at this time.
11. Turn on the computer.
12. All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.
13. Reinsert the DC Battery in the laptop.

i have searched for weeks for this exact forum of people who have a damn brain, thank you for existing and not thinking everyone with a bios locked passwpord notebook stole the god damn thing.

Hello I have a Dell 9300, which I purchased at a yard sale. The Hard Drive has a Password on it. The screen is white and black it says that I need to enter a password because the HDD is protected by a secure password authentication. I called dell but they want to know info in the previous owner but aparently the people I bought it from, purchased it from someone else. Crazy stuff but anyway Dell wont help me. Can someone direct me to a password crack or something to bypass this password. I tried Latitude.exe it didnt work. Please help

here is my service tag cm4qm71 and my HDD Serial number is #**55I43483T-595B

Dell Inspirion 600M Hard drive Password Error 595B

I would GREATLY appreciate ANY/ALL help:)wave:) in getting past this error message on my computer.

I bought a new floppy to try and reformat/reload the Windows XP system, but am NOT able to get pass the required password input ~ :)evil:) ~ I queried online for it, and found it was Dell - did NOT work.

Am QUITE desperate as there is a ton of information on the computer we are in need of ASAP.

TIA!

I purchased computer from eBay for a friend's daughter. She used it for a few weeks, then returned it to me because it wouldn't boot up Windows (XP). I think the hard drive may be bad, as it asks for the "Primary Master HDD User Password" which was not set by her, me or the previous user. The computer worked fine when I gave it to her, and did not require a password.

Please note we have had another member banned on the spot, for posting email on the free forum

I warn everyone that emailing members like these is crazy. They provide email addresses only because they are the most expensive option available. So they come to free forums and post their ridiculous high priced alternatives

TechSpot forum is free. If after reading all help here, including ==> t h i s post, and you still need help, then go to eBay or Google an alternative (ie 3rd party payment) Certainly by "shopping around" (outside TechSpot forums) you will find different prices available.

Yes this is the right forum by the way. Not Introduce yourself or hardware forum or anywhere else I've move at least one post every single day from.

Note: Tech support is not sales support. Salesman are basically *****s (as we all know) They are employed just to sell. Obviously!

Actually Kim,

that person you banned helped absolutely free, as they stated in their post which listed their e-mail, they hardly check these forums and email would be way faster for them to help because they see their e-mails everyday. I am vouching for the service and the person you banned, again they helped absolutely free of charge and the very first password worked like a charm thanks!

I would unban them, was a tremendous to help, i believe it was hpglr. which has been helping out here lately when all else fails, and for FREE

You mean his one post ?

Sorry no emails on public forum
All help provided on the forum
Only free help on the forum

He got 2 wrong ;)
The 3rd one we'll never know :D

Hi all, hope someone can help. I have an HP NX9010 bought as part of a work sell off so no proof of ownership so cannot go the HP route.

All three passwords were set, I cleared two of them (which I knew) thinking that would be ok as I had never been asked for an admin password, however I didn't have access to clear the admin password, nor change the "password required on boot" field. Seems I was wrong, I'm still being asked for a password on boot or to get into the BIOS, but the old user password no longer works, hitting enter doesn't work so I'm a bit stuck.

I've tried the advertised Phoenix backdoors, I've tried the BIOS_PW.exe to no avail.

Can anyone help? System Hash Code is 11145.

TIA!

hpglr ban has been made 3 days only
Note I have had no other communication with any other member\moderator or Admin on this
Basically Dovaboy's words played on me all day :suspiciou
I cannot justify a complete ban, and therefore amended this
As stated I will always do the right thing by all members here
