your idea of filling in a ownership transferal form with 'unknown' as the original owner does not work. the application got bounced back to me!! have you or anyone else got any other ideas?

i have contacted dell via there online support as im at work the times dell phone lines are open. you are quick to assume i have stolen the laptop or something!! such a warm welcome you give!!

the item was purchased on ebay legally, i have even asked the chappy i purchased it from and he does not have the details of the person he bought it from so now i am stuck with a D430 that does nothing
 
According to eBay, when I contacted them on this about 1 year ago now !
They said that you can write a bad report to the seller and request your money back
If the seller does not return your money, eBay will look at banning the member from posting again

ie Did you do this? (answer not required)

well it was sold as spares or repairs as he had lost the charger and could not test prior to selling. maybe they have tried to do the same as me and then made up an excuse of a story to sell it on, who knows.

its so nice of you to tell me i can leave. i would have been here forever otherwise.

help please!

My brother put a password on my computer and now it wont start. He doesn't know the password. (and I could kill him) I looked it up and called dell and they want 50 dollars to fix. I tried alot to find a way to get in but I can't. Please help!

Hp pavilion zu1155 power on pass

Hy! I have a hp pavilion zu1155 (omnibook 510 the same as mine) and i have got a power on password. Since 2007 i try to unlock it. I have got papers with unlock codes but it not work only with omnibook 6000.I'm hungarian and this laptop was a german buy. So hungarian hp service give me the 6000 codes.I try to contact with U.S. hp techniciant but he couldn't help me.Try to short the security chips, hash calculator, and unlock6 programs but nothing happend. My system hash code is:06597
Can somebody help me please?

He made a couple (well 3 really) mistakes in posting until he got here, I was concerned he may have been a spammer himself (we get a lot of those particularly on this subject - and no where else! on the entire board!)

Anyway, I was concerned about him too, but now he's all solved I'm glad we won't need to see him or anything to do with him any more. He should be very happy :)

Hello a have seen posts flying back a forth about Master password help. I am begging. I am another parts buying ebayer who brought a broken screen laptop to fix it and find out it had a password.

Thanks kenderke1, now that's community :grinthumb Others should learn ;)

Anyway I'm quoting you, just so as to keep the codes from changing ever (on a change of heart or something) I'm not actually sure if they will work as master codes or something yet :confused: But I think it's worth keeping for the time period anyway :)

I just bought this laptop off ebay and it has a bios password. I was wondering if there was any way to remove it other than replacing the board. I've read through the forum here and have not been able to come up with a solution. Removing the cmos battery will not work since this is kind of a newer laptop. The paper clip method, from what I've read, doesn't work either since there is no eeprom chip. I've read that the password is stored here:

Dell D520 = IC EMC4000-FZG (keyboard controller)

Does anyone know the master password or have any solution?

The service tag is: 3LNNVC1-595B

Express service code is: 7839881569

It is a Dell Latitude D520

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just resell on ebay. Thanks.

I appreciate the hint. However, I have no idea on how to come up with the rest. How many total characters is the password? How would I figure out the rest of it?
 
mathematically it's about 36 combinations

ie pass is 7 Alphanumeric characters long
So try: 0 or 1 or 2 or ..... up to 9
Then try a or b or c or .... up to z
