Password for boot up and bios (Omnibook XE3)

Hi,

can anyboddy please tell me, where I can find the battery for cmos in my Omnibook XE3?

I`ve got the same problem Max_Gee have had some months ago. I changed my password in Bios, but not a new word, I entered two times with "enter" in hope there will be no password any more. The result is that neither the old password nor `the new one´ works.

Please can you tell me how to manage the problem?

Max wrote in June that he had removed the baterry sucessfully? I could not find anything like that... Where is it?

I would be very pleased for help!

I just registered so I could get pass the BIOS password.

hpgl, Worked like a champ, kind of. Brought the 6100 up, entered your password no go, hit F12 to verify I gave you the right number and it was, entered your password again and the BIOS came up. Checked the password setting and it was cleared. Rebooted and went back into the BIOS again no problem. Thank you sir, Happy Holidays!!!

I'll be around, I checked the other Forums, would be nice to have one spot to solve all tech issues.

this is one of those occasions i have to say 'me too, me too!' though i don't like to do that. i have made the same mistake as quite a few people before me: to remove startup/bios password from my old laptop i entered empty password in bios setup. stupid, yeah, as i read afterwards.
laptop is hp omnibook xe4500, hash code is 03662.
if someone could help me with this, i would very much appreciate it. this old 'puter was intended to be a gift after cleanup..

I have the same problem with my OmniBook XE3. My hash code is 00000. Yes it is little bit strange for me but I have checked again and the hash code is 00000.

worked like magic. thanks a bunch, from me and from two happy girls with their own internet access :)
i have a few additional questions though:
does the master password 'stay' the master password? if i manage to lock up the bios again, will i be able to use the same one or will there be new hash code generated and new master password needed?
how to clear startup password safely? is there a way at all? if i reset bios settings to factory defaults, will the password be asked during boot? local hp support is being very polite, but not very informative unless i can give a proof of purchase (which is a bit difficult considering that company, which bought this laptop for me has ceased to exist a few years ago).
