    To death_by_sk8:

Go to Start, then Run. Type in dxdiag, then hit enter. It should say Memory: ???Mb/Gb. That is your ram. Tell me that and then click the Display tab. it should say Name: ???
Tell me the name of the graphics card that is says there.

Also, make sure you don't have any Anti Virus programs or anything like that running in the background (Mcafee, norton (god help), or AVG).

Also make sure that your sound quality is set to low.

    To Ftowngang916:

I am not sure what is happening there, but you should have entered your cd-key when creating your account to access the games. Also make sure that you don't have any firewalls running, such as Comodo or windows. Go to Start, Control Panel, Security Center, and then see if Windows Firewall is on. If it is, go HERE.

    Hope you get it fixed.

well seeing as the more fps the better, a 9.00 sucks. you probably want something closer to a 60 for decent game play. what kind of computer do you have? list all specs

Magnificent thread, mopar man. I may not have had that many issues with CS:S, but I have had issues with HL2:EP1. :( But those are fixed now though...but this is a great thread.

    Thanks!

Yep, a good thread for CS:S pub scrubs who can't figure out how to use an Autoexec.cfg or how to use any console commands.
Either way most people don't play competitively like me so this thread should help plenty of people ^.^

As for a stable config to help players FPS, I've helped MANY friends by using this config. It makes the graphis look worse and it makes the game a little less enjoyable but it is a great config: http://counterstrikestrats.com/FPSGuide.html

Your PC does not appear to meet the minimum requirements of the game. The minimum is 1.2 GHz processor. I don't understand what you wrote regarding your RAM. It doesn't add up. Anyway, your available RAM is also below the minimum requirement.

yeah that pc was really old so i installed counterstrike source on my other desktop which is a new desktop windows vista...but i have a small problem and that is my fps is very low...so low that i cant even see my enemy before he shoots me..is their a way or something i can download to make it better? thanks

Without knowing the major specifications of your Vista desktop I really can't give you a useful response. What are they? See my "System specs" to the far right of my name to get an idea of what specifications to which I am referring.

teshh25, can I ask you something?

Have you read the very first post? It lists many things, such as this:

You can also GOOGLE Caseys config. It is an Autoexec file that lowers the settings on a lot of stuff and increased my fps by about 20.

EDIT: I was not being a smart-ellick, or anything, just making sure you read it! X_D

    counter strike: source problem

Everytime i try to play counter strike source a screen pops up saying "Only one instance of the game can be running at one time" i dont have counter strike, half life or day of defeat open. The only way i can fix it is if i restart my computer, does anyone know how i can fix this without restarting twice a day?

    Yes, try this:

Open up Task Manager ( the CTRL+ALT+DEL program ) and go to the "Processes" Tab. Look for a process named "Hl2.exe" or something along those lines. If it's there, then right click and terminate/end it.

    Then try opening it.

Can someone help me find the link to update my drivers on the website Mopar gave me they dont have my graphics card =/.

I have ATI Mobility Radeon X2300
  19. mopar man TechSpot Ambassador Posts: 1,487

Well, I've noticed that the Radeon Mobility Series Drivers can be confusing as they aren't listed sometimes, as with a friends laptop.

I've also heard that "certain laptops can't use 'generic' video drivers, you must go to the laptops makers website to find those drivers".

What kind of laptop do you have, anyway? I can't find much information on that specific adapter, but... here's what I can find:
