Newbee / first-time poster here who is in some desperate need of help. I'm not quite sure how, but I got a virus which has infected my netbt.sys and cdrom.sys files, and as a result I cannot use the internet or my optical drive. I first ran an AVG scan, and then I used the AVG bootable tool to run a command line scan... After these scans all that seems to be left are those two infected files, which cannot be removed for obvious reasons. AVG designates the netbt.sys as a "Trojan horse BackDoor.Generic14.AWOR"; and the cdrom.sys as a "Trojan horse BackDoor.Generic14.ANAA." It is an older machine which I am using and I am running XP Sp3, and I'm not quite sure where to go from here... I thought about either repairing the windows installation / re-installing, or running the SFC /SCANNOW command to repair system files, but I am not sure if that would work. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
