Hey everyone. So ever since I bought my laptop (back in August of '10), I've been having freezing problems with it. The first time it happened was about 2 weeks after purchasing, I was playing a game, and about an hour or so in to it, the sound locked up, and the screen had vertical grey bars across the thing, (affectionately nicknamed "Grey Screen of Death" by others with the same problem) and I had to hard reboot it with a paper clip. The easiest way to replicate this problem, is to do something system intensive, like play a video game. Eventually, it would freeze doing more mundane tasks like surfing the web, or watching a video. When it froze that way, the grey bars didn't appear, but the sound would still skip indefinitely, and I still have to hard reboot it with a paper clip. It did this fairly regularly through the summer, and then in the winter, it seemed fine for the most part. I could have sworn it was an overheating issue, because I have an Asus G73J, and after doing a lot of research, I found that they're prone to do so. But around August or so of this year, stranger things started to happen. My desktop picture disappears and refuses to come back, my folders refuse to retain their view/sort settings, and it appeared that my saves for all of my computer games were deleted. They weren't, my computer just decided that a different default directory would be a better place to save them. I have best buy's black tie protection, and I sent it in twice. The first time, they told me their diagnostics said I had a faulty hard drive, and they replaced it for free. I had everything backed up on an external hard drive, and they restored my computer from that. This did not resolve the issue, so I brought it back in shortly after. They ran the same diagnostic and told me that I have a bunch of viruses on it, and that this wasn't covered under their warranty, but they could fix it for $100+ if I wanted (I didn't). They swear it's not a hardware issue, but a software issue, I still have my doubts, but in case it is a software issue, here's my HJT log. Thanks for any help you can give!
