Solved Multiple iexplore.exe in task manager (a.k.a. is there an echo in here?)

1. there is no old OTL on my desktop anymore (I don't recall if I deleted it or not - it was two days ago and a lot happened in between, but I guess I must have :))
2. No programs at all will run in Normal Mode
3. I'll reboot into Safe Mode and re-run Combofix now

you must get some sick pleasure out of dealing with these virus/malware/spyware *&^%$rs!

ok - combofix is running in safe mode now - but I have to go and get my fiancee, so I'll likely only post back in a couple of hours time.

thanks again for your commitment to kicking some @$$ :)

Hahahaha...when we're done, we'll celebrate with some DrVodka....I mean, vodka...LOL

Alright, Broni!

Combofix re-ran smoothly (but took a LONG time).

It restarted in Normal Mode at the end of the scan and there are no iexplore.exe processes in Task Manager - log attached. Computer is still running at 99% Mem useage though.

I ran OTL using your red script in Custom Scans and have attached the OTL log and Extras.

Hit me with the next step - I can almost feel the viruses/malware getting weaker with each punch! ;)

Good, good news :)

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

Code:
File::
c:\temp\CR_778.tmp
c:\temp\CR_8C7.tmp
c:\temp\is-0AM28.tmp
c:\temp\D.tmp
c:\temp\E.tmp
c:\temp\6.tmp
c:\temp\2.tmp
C:\32788R22FWJFW.1.tmp
c:\temp\3.tmp
c:\temp\7.tmp
c:\temp\4.tmp

Folder::
c:\temp\{3EB3BF1B-684C-4177-9A3B-371611C807AC}

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs again, so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

5. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

6. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
  • Combofix.txt

I am wondering if I can uninstall Spybot given that I have MBAM?
Absolutely. Spybot is rather tool of the past.

Combofix re-run with the new code, log attached.

What's next? vodka? :)

I am too tired to properly express my sincere gratitude. we shall speak tomorrow! you're a rockstar and I cannot thank you enough.

weird thing is that my machine is now running very slow - for example I cannot watch youtube clips as it takes so long to load and just skips. any thoughts?

Be more specific.
What exactly is slow?
Computer? Internet? Internet videos?
None of the sounds? Internet sounds? Windows sounds? Music CD sound?

sorry - it's been a long week :)

the sounds issue was a user-error-brain-fart - ignore that comment.

but for example, I am using firefox, have two tabs open - this one, and one other with youtube, playing a song. the song skips every 5-10 secs and whenever I change or refresh this tab. even my cursor is moving extremely slow in this window as I type. my whole computer seems sluggish - never had this problem before - espcially not with as few tabs open. I literally only have firefox running, nothing else (apart from Avira). the same is true for chrome - I tried that to see if it was just firefox. sorry to drag this thread on - I feel bad.
