need help please! max payne!!

recently installed max payne and when playing everything that is not certain sprites such as walls and doors and floor is black.

looks like its very dark!! but its not the contrast or anything, objects such as people and bloodstains come out fine,

my display adaptor is;
S3 inc. Savage/lX w/MV

my screen mode is;
640 x 480 x 32

acceleration is;
d3d softwar T&L

all my settings are on low and it is on billinear mode.

if u can help it would be really great i am in desperate need! do i need to download a crack or patch? please help me!!!

Maybe you ought to try a different type of acceleration...does it have the option for Open GL? I've never played Max Payne before so I wouldnt know. Do you have the newest driver available for your video card?

I think by downloading your newest video cards driver this issue will be fixed. If this doesn't work there is a Max Payne patch out you could try it. Fixed my old Vodoo 3 problems. By the way you really should get a new video card, yes I know it costs a lot, by now a Geforce 4 MX 420-460 should be very cheap, around 120 Canadian, or an Ati Radeon 7500-8500 should work very well with Max Payne at very high detail. Have you tried 16-bit modes?
