    Hi Folks,

I get sound, but no video using either VLC or PowerDVD 6

    System specs:
    Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop
    1GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 video card (Running Radeon Omega Drivers v4.8.442)
    Windows XP SP3

The only recent changes I've made to my system is that I installed the Vista Inspirat Bricopack from www.crystalxp.net. What's funny is that video worked fine for a while and only recently have these problems come up.
I may have accidentally turned off some service or something, I'm not sure.

    Please let me know.

Did you load the DVD software that comes with the PowerDVD 6?
You might take a look at clickcooldeals.com if you have no software for video.

I uninstalled and reinstalled PowerDVD 6, and that didn't solve the problem.
The loss of video happened all of a sudden, too. As in maybe a month ago it was working fine.

I would test by changing the optical drive, if that is where the DVD was generated... Optical drive failures are so incredibly common... I have not seen one fail on Video but there is no reason why not, when every other aspect of those drives fail.

    Ray,

I tested the optical drive by installing a program and it works fine, if that's what you mean. I still get no video (sound only) playing a DVD....
