Sims 2 Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters

  1. Can someone help me please im having a common problem that alot of people seem to get, when i start the sims 2 i get this error.

    Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system!Please make sure you have a direct X9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.

    i have tried so many different things, downloaded drivers, downloaded patches and directx 9 again, i have enabled the directx features.

    i dont know much about computers but i can tell you this its,
    System information

    microsoft windows xp profesional (5.1 build 2600)
    Acer Aspire 5650
    Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66 GHz (2 CPUs)
    1022MB RAM
    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

    Display
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
    Intergrated RAMDAC
    128.0MB

    I hope thats enough Information if you need more just ask. Please could someone help me its really starting to get annoying.

    Also i have played this game on this laptop before so i know it can work.
