[Solved] Since a week or so my PC starts freezing

    Oke i have followed all steps, the eset online scanner is still scanning though. It already has found a few things so far.

    But before i posted all the log files needed i wanted to ask something quick. Do i have to remove the found items by the online scanner after it is finished?

    Okido got it :) Thanks for the quick reply..

    Yeah I had already unchecked them, but i was not realy clear about to remove them manually after the scan or not. But i got it now.
    I will post them as soon as the scan is ready.

    Oke now the scan is ready, here are the steps I have taking in order..

    First I have updated my Java as suggested. After installation I have rebooted my PC.
    Then I used JavaRa as described. It made a log, don’t know if the log is suppose to be posted, but here is it anyway:

    Not sure, but since AVG nor MalwareBytes Anti-Malware would never not read these files as viruses, I myself think the most of these founded files are KeyGen files of certain programs. Some one once told me that some Anti-Virus programs read these files as backdoor viruses because they were programmed in the same characteristic way or something. Don’t know if that is true or not.. But maybe that’s the case I thought to my self. Because I found it weird why these programs would not recognize these files as possible Worm or Viruses, while a online scanner does..

    Your computer is clean [IMG]

    1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point, using following OTL script:

    Run OTL

    • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following:

    2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process

    Clean up with OTL:

    • Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
    • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
    • On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
    • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

    If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.

    3. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

    4. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

    5. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

    6. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.

    7. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.

    8. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.

    9. (optional) If you want to keep all your programs up to date, download and install FileHippo Update Checker.
    The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases.

    10. Run defrag at your convenience.

    Removed Acrobat Reader, Installed FoxIt and IE 8, rebooted PC.

    Then I ran OTL, pasted the code from the codebox as instructed then hit Run Fix. After the scan I rebooted and the following file was produced:

    So this is the end of the road? :) Well I hope my PC stopped with freezing, within a couple hours over and over. I’ll keep you posted. Every now and then I will bring out a report on how things go.

    I did always once a week a full scan with Anti-Malware & AVG at the time. From now on it’s going to be Avast :) By that I mean scanning every week.

    Since my last post no freezing *holding thumbs across*
    I hope it stays this way..

    But i did noticed that my Sandboxie browser no longer works, and also Cubase (Software) takes a very long time to load up now.. Not sure what exactly it could be, but thought let you know.

    I did noticed though that my PC is a lot more faster. Things are "oiled up" so to say, because i do notice some difference in speed.

    Oh yeah, is it recommended to update the drivers of my PC? There is this program i use from the fabrikant of the motherboard to update the bios drivers, PCI, and sound drivers etc etc..

    Good news :)

    You may want to reinstall them.

    Generally, you leave drivers alone, unless you have some particular computer problem.
    For sure, you don't update drivers in bunches.
    Forget about those kind of programs.

    Sorry to bother you again. But after i hoped the freezing will be over, it wasn't :(

    So i got tired of it, and decided to format my C: Drive. Fortunately for me, I have an external Hard Drive where I have saved all my Projects, Mp3, Movies, Pictures, etc etc.. So it was not that big of sacrifice.

    But after Installing Windows XP clean, I started to update my "Windows Updates" first from the Windows Update Website.

    After all that was done I began to install only the necessary programs like Avast Anti-Virus & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    So when I went to bed I thought let's scan with Avast via the Schedule Scan. Tis seems to be an option that scans your Windows before it starts up. So i thought not a bad idea.. When I woke up and looked at my PC, it was frozen again. So I had to reboot my machine, after it was rebooted I looked in the Log file of the scan, and there Avast had found a few treat's. So i chose delete them, rebooted my PC. And a little time after it was rebooted, frozen again..

    When i did a little search, I came across some interesting things. I first wanted to lay it down on you and hoped for your advice, since i don't know what to do..

    So I read a similar problem here:

    One talks about setting timings for CPU and Memory, also Jumpers of the Motherboard?
    The other claims it could be the video card..

    They are saying that it could be a sort of messed up Register, that unwanted info there can make freezes and that via registry clean up tool it could be fixed.

    But since you advice me earlier to stay away from that kind of tools I stay away from it.
    Just informing you what i came across while i was doing some research.

    To me it is to much tech detail. I'm sure it says more to you then me :)

    Hey Broni, here is a little report, I wanted to wait a few days to make it sure..
    But it seems the freezing is over! :)

    My PC has not frozen in 48 hours now, without turning it off.
    What I did was, I turned of my computer. Unplugged the cables and all.

    I vacuum cleaned it from the inside (around the fan, etc etc), and I did a reset on the CMOS jumper on my computer's motherboard.

    After that I plugged in all the cables back again, I powered up my PC again, and chose in the Blue BIOS screen "Load Optimized Settings".

    Since then my computer seems to be work again normally. At least the freezing is over as it seems :)
    YEAH!

    Just thought I let you know. And again, many thanks for your effort and help! Really appreciate it.

    Never, ever do this! Vacuum cleaner produces a lot of static electricity, which is a killer to electronic components.
