Dear Broni,

i have seem to infected my computer greatly. I read up on how you helped eaglegun and joe1. I have the same problems. Here is what I have noticed:

almost ALL of my programs have been deleted
task manager is not available for use.
i have the system check virus
xp antispyware 2012 virus
a message in the toolbar which says, "failed to save all the components for the file. the file is corrupted or unreadable. this error may be caused by a pc hardware problem
a message which reads, "hard drive clusters are potentially damaged. segment load failure"
the same repeated messages, "Failed to save all the components for the file \\System32\\000015f4. The file is corrupted or unreadable" (with the last few digits different)
a black background

I dont think i can run in normal mode because my internet explorer is constantly redirected or shut down. Previously, when my computer was working (although i knew it was infected, my firefox would constantly redirect me to different pages and the second problem was it would open a new window with about 14 tabs all with the same message, "http 404 error" or something like that)

and i think that is it. i was hoping you could help me. i have not taken any steps as my initial thought was to follow your previous posts although ive seen posts which recommend that i should not follow what has been said to others. furthermore, i dont think i have any antivirus programs running or to use. What im trying to say is that i am at the absolute base problem and not a clue how to proceed. (well, i have an idea what to do after having read some of your various posts, although i want to follow your lead)

please help, id greatly appreciate it!

See if you can start in normal mode now.
If yes update MBAM, run new scan and post fresh log.

these are the results from a normal mode scan on mbam. just an update, i've sent this reply through safe-mode, internet explorer was taking too long to load on normal mode. furthermore, i haven't seen the xp antisoftware or system check in a while. it seems that everything is running more smoothly thus far, just slow. i understand this takes time, i will be able to complete your next post later tonight as i'll be on a flight from 4-8pm (eastern time). in regards to this scan, the first time i ran the scan last night, there were 32 infections, which i removed and the sytstem required a restart. from there, i ran a second scan (in safe mode), and a third scan (in normal mode, upon your request). i hope this is what you are looking for.

Download aswMBR to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it.
If you see this question: Would you like to download latest Avast! virus definitions?" say "Yes".
Click the "Scan" button to start scan.
On completion of the scan click "Save log", save it to your desktop and post in your next reply.

NOTE. aswMBR will create MBR.dat file on your desktop. This is a copy of your MBR. Do NOT delete it.

============================================================

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  2. Close any open browsers.
  3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
    NOTE1. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
    NOTE 2. If Combofix asks you to update the program, always do so.
    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
  4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt"
**Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
**Note 2 for AVG and CA Internet Security users: ComboFix will not run until AVG/CA Internet Security is uninstalled as a protective measure against the anti-virus. This is because AVG/CA Internet Security "falsely" detects ComboFix (or its embedded files) as a threat and may remove them resulting in the tool not working correctly which in turn can cause "unpredictable results". Since AVG/CA Internet Security cannot be effectively disabled before running ComboFix, the author recommends you to uninstall AVG/CA Internet Security first.
Use AppRemover to uninstall it: https://www.techspot.com/downloads/5514-appremover.html
We can reinstall it when we're done with CF.

**Note 3: If you receive an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion", restart computer to fix the issue.

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE.
If, for some reason, Combofix refuses to run, try one of the following:
1. Run Combofix from Safe Mode (How to...)
2. Delete Combofix file, download fresh one, but rename combofix.exe to yourname.exe BEFORE saving it to your desktop.
Do NOT run it yet.
Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
Vista and Win7 users need to right click Rkill and choose Run as Administrator
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
Rkill.com
Rkill.scr
Rkill.exe
  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • If it does not work, repeat the process and attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
Once you've gotten one of them to run, immediately run your_name.exe by double clicking on it.
If normal mode still doesn't work, run BOTH tools from safe mode.
In case #2, please post BOTH logs, rKill and Combofix.
DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!
Broni,
I ran the first program you told me to and received a log. for the CF though, it has been runnning for a LONG time. For like 7 hours now. It has restarted a few times and have continued to run, although now a window is running, with a blue background, which says, "preparing log (with a second line saying that you cannot run programs simultaneously)"....I am unsure what to do. I disabled the antivirus programs, although the internet connection hasnt disabled itself yet. I am unsure what to do, currently, I''m letting the CF run itself while i type this on a separate computer. Any suggestions or words of encouragement?
i am restarting my computer now and going to re-ruin CF
Im wtching the CF run now once agin, it is going through the "completed stages". If it doent work, and a log is not produced, I'll run it in safe mode. If i were to have to rn it in safe mode, do i follow the safe mode instructions? Or just simply run it as i have been. This time around, i manually disabled my internet connection (by turning off my wifi), and i deleted the program, "symantic antivirus". I ran CF and it said to shut down that progam. I did not know how to find it on m compuer so i simply deleted it. I hope it works better this time around. As a side note, i waned to mention that before i conacted you, my firefox browser would consisently redircect iself ( i just thought that would be useful for you to know). Once again, this is from a different compuer as CF is running on my laptop right now.
In safe mode none of those conditions exist so you can simply run it.
You may want to run rKill first though.
CF log, it worked!
Bromi, i think theres a problem. I am still running the first step of otl. I pasted the log you told me to, and ran the fix scan like you said. I DID NOT check all users. Thefist time i ran it, it seemed as if the computer was frozen. Thenotl said it was killing infections, do not interrupt the process. I gott worried becausenthe clock on my desktop had frozen from the time i had begun the scan. So i restarted the program. When it restarted, alot of my previous desktop had come back (programs had returned. So now, im doing the same thing all over again. I started the scan 6 hours ago and asokutely nothing has changed. Same thing as the first time. I dont know if the computer is frozen or if stuff is actually being fixed. I turned off the inernet connection and all AV programs to allow for a clear run. I also havent clicked or touched the laptop. What should i do? Is this normal?
