TechSpot Quake 3 Tournament

Please will you all, unlike this very silly boy, keep your IP addresses secret. Swap them in the IRC channel or something. Certainly don' publish them here for all to see. If you give that out, its like priviledged information. Its like me telling you my real name and address. Its an act of trust, and please don't violate that by broadcasting it to anyone and everyone.....

That said, hope to get a game organised some time soon.

I might be getting DSL (keyword: MIGHT) soon, I'd be glad to host. But some people will of course have faster connections than me...

I'm not up for many games though. My original Q3 CD got scratched to all hell.

I just got NWN. That would be fun playing multiplayer (right?). I also have Tribes 2, and Deus Ex. All my other games are not worth mentioning ;)

If anyone else here sucks at fps games and would like to take on me or team up with me against some d00ds or computers in starcraft I'm up for it almost any time.

phant - its no biggie really, unless your a silly goof with DSL. If you have a modem it changes, if you have DSL your IP could be dynamic, therefore it would change again. If you have DSL and its a static IP, commen sence says get a firewall up, or just get a router. If your PC is hooked into the router, hackers cant access it, because its IP just became bogus(ex: 192.168.0.2). they'll get your IP, and it will hit the router, and say "?¿?", I see more IPs. OK lets connect to one "192,168.0.2", it will come back saying no such IP. Unless it connects to the router, and then from there gets into the IP, but I dont think you can do that. I have DSL with a static IP, so I just went out and bought a router with a built in firewall ;) If your dsl line has a static IP, and you dont have a router or firewall, you deserve to be hacked

If I ever find a decent priced MOBO / CPU combo to upgrade my PII 400 box I can run a dedicated server for just about any game, barring that I have it.....If I don't have it I can borrow a friends as I know someone that has every game that has been talked about. So if anyone has any suggestions for a new proc/mobo for around 75 dollars I will hear it and look into it.

I know this is pretty cheap to get a decent combo, but that is all I am allowing myself to spend. I probably shouldn't spend that, but......you know how it is with computers....always gotta make it better

I have 2 computers, but Im also behind a router/firewall. If I ran a deticated server on one of the PCs, would poeple still be able to get in? If so, I'll make a UT2K3 server.

Never mind about all of that. Just listen to what I said and respect my wishes. Never mind what the motivation is. You don't know my setup, don't know from where I am connecting and don't know the full situation. If I say I don't want my IP address plastered over the forums then I mean it. Thanks. Oh and not trying to be rude here, but I DO KNOW what Network address translation is, and how one of your cheap ASDL/cable routers work.

LOL @P66 :) I'm very impressed ! i never suspected you knew all these techie things :p :) Who can explain what "PC" means ? Potatoe Chips ?
:D

sorry i'm totally dumb ... a ladder ???? what u mean ?

Ah, a ladder tournament.

Basically my understanding of it is that a player plays the person on the first "rung," and if he beats them he moves up the ladder, until he's at the very top. I doubt we TSers would ever pull something like that together though :D
