Trying to read Brother WP-760D Diskettes on a PC

My wife has an old Brother WP-760D word processor machine which is on its last legs. I am trying to rescue the data from her 50 or so diskettes and put it on a PC.
I have tried everything I can think of to read these diskettes. My latest efffort is a self-written Assembly language program to read the raw data using the BIOS interrupt 13h. Regardless of what combination of track, sector, and side I use as parameters to the BIOS call, it always results in error status 2 "Address mark not found (bad sector)".
Hopefully, someone can help. We would surely like to save the data but, now that we are on a fixed income, we cannot afford to purchase software which might not work. I am willing, and able to write the necessary software if I can be pointed in the right direction.
Many Thanks,
Jack
