This is my first time here so I hope I posted this in the right place. A few days ago I started noticing a few issues with my laptop. First some HDD Defragmenter software was installed causing some popups. Then, when trying to view netflix from firefox my silverlight plugin began to fail. After updating all of my plugins I tried again without any luck. I started looking deeper and noticed through process explorer that I had two iexplore.exe process running, which is not normal since I don't use iexplore.exe. After trying to remove them, they came back immediately. I even went as far as removing internet explorer to see if that did the trick. Each time the iexplore.exe executable was copied back into the folder and the processes ran again. Looking at the process in detail, it looks like it refers to www.clickleg.org/ac.php... I did a quick search online and found another person with a similar issue (http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic158611.html). I have tried many different programs to rectify the issue. Malwarebytes does run but didn't find the rootkit. GMER freezes even in safe mode. TDSSKiller does'nt start even when I attempt to rename it. I was able to run hackthis, dds, and a few others to generate logs but I haven't found anything that sticks out. Judging by the previous topic, Combofix fixed the problem but I am going to take the forum advice and not run it on my own. Also, I was experiencing the same slowing of the system that the other member reported. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
