What does your desktop look like?

I think I might have been premature in posting that Battlestar Galatica shot, for that customization I guess was coming to the end of it's life span, it was like 2-3 weeks old. Today it appears was the dawn of a new customization! Little bit more darker, a little more scaled back, a little more well blended and a lot more sexy!

This is what I just cooked up....

I scaled back the Rainmeter Configs here, I gave them a 20% transparency all the while pulling back the intensity of the RocketDock, I scaled that back by I think 25%. All the while through Adobe Photoshop 7.0 adding hues and blend elements to both the beautiful lady and the black leather sofa, blended out the edges, while doing color refinement! This was fun, I hadn't incorporated Adobe Photoshop into one of my customization in quite some time, felt good to back to actual customizing, rather than relying upon already in place tools.

Enjoy.......

I've been playing a fair amount of skyrim recently, and I took this random screenshot whilst wandering through the mountains.
the Skyrim world is absolutely massive.

Well some may know by reading various areas of the forums that I am up here in Washington State handling some serious family matters. While here, I have been totally blowing my little cousins minds with computer stuff. See, most of the contingent of my Washington based family are a bit behind the signs of the times. My Uncle, god bless him, he considers a serious communications device to be his outdated old 1970's C.B. radio! When I show him my smart phone he just looks at it like it's from another planet. But anyways, getting back to at least one of my cousins, I'm here blowing his mind. I'm rather proud of him, recently with used parts he built himself his very first computer. It's a bit old fashioned in comparison to today's marvels, like maybe 5-6 years old, pertaining to most of the dates on the parts. His family only had a spare copy of Windows XP (32bit) for him to load and use. He wanted more, of course, like most his age do. So using his computer I remote activated my in home server at home, and remotely downloaded a Enterprise copy of Windows Vista Ultimate (64bit) I have on file. So he's all set, he just think he's like a new penny, shinny, pretty, eye catching, ect. I had to go out to a local computer store and bought him 6 Gig's of new RAM, for the 2 Gig's he had just wasn't cutting it. After his whole system was installed, dialed in, tuned and some extras installed, I then went into the wonderful world of Windows customizations with the kid. This kid is popping about all of this more so than a kernel of pop corn!

Well, anyways, after maybe like 25 to 30 minutes, I created him a new Windows look, so here is what the kid's got.....

I gave him Rainmeter, Cursor-FX and Rocket Dock and just did a usual color change through Windows to match up the taskbar with the color of the tools and wallpaper used.

Well, if anything I think I might have needed this distraction and a slight escape for the horror of my current "real world"! But I think it's safe to say that I've now got a fan for life!

I hope you and your family are ok :)

This thread was started in 2002. It's like a chronicler of the ages for desktops. For the images that survived that is.

My, I can't believe I was away that long! Haven't posted in ages! :D
Anyhow, here goes mine:

For those curious: It's not Windows, no.
It's Linux.
And my own distro at that.
This is the default layout till I come up with something better.

Cheers! ;)

Looks like a good place to hit a nice 9 iron from :)
Either that, or a good place to walk the dog..... Do you have to bring a baggie when you boot that baby up?

OK, here's the disclaimer. "I wanted desperately to not say those things, but the demons of my poor to non-existent impulse control, beat the crap out of the angels of my better nature".:D

I just save time and bring a bag of crap with me cuz I don't have a dog.

Don't feel bad, my daemons win out most of the time as well....I blame it on tourette syndrome...!#%@&**#!....pardon

Then there's always the chore of, "mowing the lawn", (euphemistically speaking).

Is it considered "bad taste" to mow your computer's lawn, or does it just "taste bad"....?

You know that some religious extremists believe that it wasn't an apple Eve let Adam munch on. After all, Steve Jobs hadn't been born yet.

This is all going to be in my forthcoming treatise on sexual innuendo through the ages. For now, the working title is, "Faster than you can say Lickety-Split", WTF does that even mean"?

I think a proper lickety-split can be seen on page 146 of the Joy of Sex

They call it Enlightenment, or E17 for short.
There's quite a bit of custom, home-grown code underneath that in my case though, so the effect isn't fully replicable. ;)
