What does your desktop look like?

I don't know what it is, but I think I'm entering a new stage in both life, and with my custom Windows customizations. I seem to be drifting towards more softer and classy desktops and customizations. Rather than creating ones based upon hot juicy sexy females. I could be wrong, but I think this might be either the first or pretty close to it, when creating a customization based off of a black and white image.

I really rather like this new one, it is very much "living room approved" and it just oozes cosmopolitan and class!

Enjoy! :)

Here's my desktop on my new MBP retina. I have the same picture on my Windows 7 partition as well. I found a bit of software that lets me use the native 2880 x 1800 without any scaling, so I have a ton of desktop space. More in fact than I do on my desktop with three monitors.

<-- Jealous. It's too early for me to ask my employer for a new MBP but that has got to be a wonderful amount of real estate.

Well unlike Marnomancer, who is currently working on a new customization, I'm rather think I'm going to take a small break away from them for a while, and see how much mileage I can now get out of my newest creation. But I got to hand it to Technochicken, triple monitor setups are sweet. Just before my desktop computer blew, I to was enjoying my first triple monitor setup, three brand matching and size matching HD LCD monitors. To be honest here, I do miss the setup, to bad that little explosion inside my desktop computer took out two of my three video cards and my sound card and some other odd's and end's, I miss the triple setup! But I am on the other side of the coin, very thankful that I have this new 44 inch Samsung HD LCD television that has two HDMI hook ups, for that's what I'm using now as my primary base of operations. I guess it's kind of a "give or take" in regards to monitor setups. Have many and you can really spread things out. Or have one and with the display settings you can go big, maybe a couple months I'll be back to where I once was, but not today!

Good luck on that customization Marnomance, can't wait to see it! :)

He-he, thanks!
I've got the transparency, glow, fogged-glass and sliding effects A-OK, but a video recording shows up all grey. And I somehow can't get it to use hardware acceleration.
A little preview of the beta:

As I had nothing to do today, I decided to place the only 'gadgets' I ever use on Win7 for some time ;)

Got another one, just completed it a couple minutes ago! I like it, a nice ocean view, setting sun and oh yeah the beautiful lady doesn't hurt the scene what so ever! :) The only issue I had was doing a lot of on-line searching for the appropriate look and feel of the dock icons, I choose to run with a nice set of black and gold ones, trying to match the colors within the wallpaper. Oh yeah, slight mouse pointer change, went from white areo to the old school bronze one!

Enjoy! :)

I have a feeling Zen's meaning of art and your meaning, Marn, are two different things. :D But don't let me tell you. Hehehe

I have a lot of ESET backgrounds on my Desktop. It's pretty cool.

Haha, +1'ed! :D
Well, but he has a better sense of centralised administration/monitoring. Could help with the front-end of HeliumOS's Server Edition.

Hell Zen, I'm recruiting you into my dev team for the artwork department. ;)

What ever type of help you need for your team or teams, just start a "conversation" with me and give me the gist of what you do and what you might need from me, and we will see where thing go from there! :)

Seeing that there's "Olympic Fever" in the air, I decided to trash my recent prior creation, and opted for something more Olympic!

This customization was done more so to pay tribute and honor the birth of the Olympic flame, rather than the games themselves. The wallpaper was found on a Greek website, a website who had a represented covering the birth of the London 2012 Olympic Flame. The Olympic Flame is lit in Greece at the historic ruins of the Temple of Hera in Ancient Olympia, where the High Priestess uses a parabolic mirror to capture the sun’s rays and light the Flame. The Olympic flame now being used for the 2012 London Olympic Games was born back on Wednesday, May-9-2012!

My Tribute

I am a bit flattered, my good friend Kevin just left my home after a good long visit, I was creating this customization while he was still here. After I put this finishing touch on it and said out loud...."ok, that's it, I'm done"! Kevin took a look and told me that it reminded him of art work that he saw hanging in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. He said you've turned your 44 inch TV into a painted canvas. So I was a bit touched by that statement!

Hope you enjoy this one, this one out of all the rest has the most meaning! I'm going to keep this one around for the duration of the 2012 games. I guess my little way to bring something Olympic into my home. :)

Before I call it a night and proceed to power everything down and go to bed, I thought I'd share my recent creation! Completed this one several minutes ago, I guess I got board and rather twiddling my thumbs, I created a new look for my television screen!

Dark, simple, with a splash of sexy!

This one is very nice inside a darken living room, almost zero glare!

This is a picture of my desktop from a couple of years ago...

Well everything in the image appears interesting, but you cut off the top! We can't see what this topic area is really meant for, and that is to actually see your computer monitor screen. You see my prior post, my newest submission, that's what were are going after. My prior post shows what my computer desktop looks like at present time. So you might want to think about doing a "print screen" or "screen capture", open up whatever photo editing tool you've got, paste the image into that program, save it as a JPEG, open up your web browser, pick something like Image Shack or whatever web image hosting site you have an account at, have that site host the image, come back to TechSpot with the new direct link to your image and try this all over again!

But I do have to say I like the whole wood look of your desk, roll away keyboard and mouse shelves are nice, out when you need it, slide it back in when you don't.

Sorry, I thought from the title that you were after the desktop.

Sorry, I thought from the title that you were after the desktop.

No problem, I don't blame you, I think way back when I first got here, I think I thought the same thing when I saw the title area. I probably was getting all ready to take a picture of everything, desk, chair, desktop computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor, the works. Until probably I opened this area up and saw it was pretty much for how your active desktop on your monitor screen looked. So again, I'll give you an example, that way forever more will you know!

My current desktop, the active one on my 44 inch television, which by the way I'm using as a computer monitor via HDMI...

This is what we are gunning for, that type of a shot! So let's fire up the old print screen as see what yours looks like!

Mine is a little different these days:

Linux Mint "Maya" _x64 with Cinnamon.

Been pretty busy lately so not had much chance to sort the desktop background out properly, or adapt a theme to my needs. That's a work in progress for now. Will hopefully resolve all of that this weekend.

Will hopefully be doing a couple of upgrades to it shortly as I've moved over to Linux for work usage, with a view to having a separate PC purely for gaming. As part of the upgrades I'll be purchasing a new SSD for Linux, and re-organising my current disk arrangement (6 physical disks currently!). I'd like to move /home over to one of my larger 1/2TB disks, as currently its just a ~55GB partition and I'm going to retire my current "Virtualbox" disk for a higher-capacity Hitachi GST model.

As always, things are a work in progress, but I'll share my changes as I go along.

Well, the terminology is to blame. Wouldn't blame Zoltan. Actually, I thought the same thing before opening the thread.

On-topic: My current desktop is pretty much a WIP, and...it's a prototype...for HeliumOS...so I'd rather not pull off the covers just yet!

Stay tuned! ;)

This is nothing compared to the spectacular works of art previously posted on this thread.

But anyways...

This is a cropped and re-sized version of a photograph which I had as my desktop background for nearly a year.

I took the photo while staying in a dive resort in Thailand. This is obviously not the swimming beach. I had taken a long hike with a couple of friends -- toting coolers, two bottles of Jack Daniels' and a few beers -- and we came upon a nice little picnic area nearby.

For some reason, I never get drunk when I'm near the ocean -- no matter how much I drink. By the time I took this photo, three of my friends had already passed out.

Some of the beaches there were so beautiful -- the sand immaculately white and the water a clear crystal blue -- they looked like they were photoshoped.

It's a kind of beauty only an ocean-lover will understand...
I'm one! :)

It's very beautiful. :)
I like the sky and rocks most.

Feels like forever since I've submitted any kind of a desktop customization! But being pretty busy with life and anticipated things, it can keep one from having a lot of time to "bling bling" up ones system. This is my current setup, the desktop I'm using now. It based off of one of my favorite TV shows and that being the remake of Battlestar Galactica. I own all 4 seasons, plus the 2 hour TV movies Razor, The Plan and the Pilot!

Well here it is...

Nice and simple, I like it! :)
