Help please, I'm just building new PC with higher specs than previously used. After sorting out initial problem with power supply I finally thought I had succeeded only to recieve the following error message ................

Stop 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78DA208, 0xF78D9F08)

pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000

This is the first time I've tried loading Windows XP Pro (SP1) on this computer, so it is a virgin install and having searched this site and Microsoft help I am wondering if I have a compatibility issue.

I'm using a Gigabyte GA-EP43-DSL3 motherboard, Intel E8400 Dual core processor and an ASUS PCi Express graphics card (9800GTX), 4Gb RAM

Thanks in anticipation - I am truly stuck this time!!

Does anyone know if I have a hard ware clash or is it the version of XP I'm trying?

Basically it's a matter of updating your Drivers, and also updating to minimum SP2 (SP3 preferred)
