Opera chooses Google for Opera Mobile
”Google will be the default search partner for the mobile browsers: Opera Mobile and Opera Mini," Opera Software ASA said in a statement. "Under the one-year contract, Opera will make Google Search a major part of the browsers home screen."
A somewhat ambiguous statement, but interesting nevertheless. Perhaps this will spurn further adoption of Opera.

The google war machine is clearly unstoppable. This is one occasion where that is not such a bad thing. Google is robust, reliable and no-nonesense.The ideal thing when managing bandwith. |

Well, google is unstoppable, I agree with you on that one Cyrax. I also believe that this partnership, between the two companies, will be very profitable for both. It can only improve Opera's software. |

It's always nice to see a built-in Google search in different browsers (ahm Microsoft... they need to understand that Google is just better than MSN). Despite this, I don't think this addition will skyrocket Opera's success. Actually, I don't think it will do anything. Anyway, the people who are already using Opera's browsers will probably be happy.However, What will happen when Google will start its own browser program ? Some people say it won't, but I think otherwise. Will the search boxes in Firefox and now Opera will disappear ? Interesting...

I'm using Opera as alternatative of MS Internet Explorer on my PC,but to be honest I still open same web pages with IE, because of encoding problems. My Sony-Ericsson P800 smartphone is different story - I'll never load a web page again with it's own crappy browser. Google search engine in Opera also works in contrast to MS crappy engine for IE  [color=red]Edited by Poertner_1274: Please watch your language when posting in our news stories.[/color]

Isn't this just the same as what it is with Firefox? Integrated google search within the browser, very convenient. It's a wise decision though for both companies. Mobile device users is a new, unexplored market which will be connecting to the internet more and more in the future. |

I think you people are missing the point. I've used Opera for several years now. I now perfer the Google ad in the upper right corner of the browser window. I have a e-mail account for catching spam. You need to see ads of intrest to you, and the ads should be in a web browser, and last " Why should Google spend $20million, to duplicate the free combination of Opera and Google?" signed the Xen of Linux from Spring. |

I would've been very surprised if they made any other choice...I love Opera in spite of it's rendering problems (which is why is still occasionaly have to depend on IE), and Google's advanced search already is my home page The best browser on Earth meets the best search engine on Earth, a match from heaven So they are just making that mobile now, I guess I'll be getting it too for my phone
