Motorola is set to acquire Kreatel Communications, who specialise in developing television set-top boxes that use Linux and IP-based services.

Kreatel's system includes not just the operating system but also higher-level application and infrastructure software for sending TV signals over the internet. Kreatel customers include KPN in the Netherlands, Telefonica in Spain and TeliaSonera in Sweden.
The deal is expected to be closed in Q1 of this year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  1. I think this will be a Multi Million/Billion dollar deal. It seems like every company wants to get its hands on some type of software, before Windows Vista is released. I'm anxious to see how businesses will react to the new operating system.
