AMD to optimize future CPUs for Linux
What's AMD up to? It seems possible that AMD might be working closely with Linux software to help optimize future AMD processors for Linux. Currently, AMD is looking for a Linux kernel developer, among other people, for an “Operating Systems Research Center” with this particular goal in mind, and virtualization being high on the list of things to optimize for.
According to the job openings, the kernel developer's task will be to optimize the Linux kernel for AMD processors and to help processor designers "better support the requirements of modern operating systems in future processor generations."
Isn't that something. While not all that useful from a desktop standpoint, this may be a way for AMD to claim more of the server market share, which they have been fighting desperately to gain with the Opteron.

All I use is puppy dog Linux on my flash drive.

We could say that not much people use Mac or Firefox. Even if it's almost just advertising it will help a bit AMD to gain more marketshare since a lot of Linux users are more Intel-side, saying that it works better.
