FBI arrests 8 botnet operators
Another set of bot masters have found themselves behind bars as the legal system closes in more and more on those who operate botnets. As part of the continuing operation they announced earlier this year, many botnet owners or operators have been arrested. In this latest fiasco, eight people were arrested in at least five different states, all of whom are accused of operating botnets for various purposes such as DDoS attacks.
And yet, the problem seems only to be getting worse. According to Secure Computing, thousands of more machines become compromised every day. While we all wait for more long-term and effective solutions, at least there are some dents being made in those who prey upon the Internet using masses.

This stuff really is big business now. You can make a fortune. Its more than enough to tempt people, even with the threat of jail. |

Money tends to be a tangible reality, jail is an abstract concept, (at least until you get there). Besides, most of these people have an over-inflated self image believing they are smarter than the people who are chasing them, or perhaps believing no one is. It seems that those "good old days" are gone. Hooray!!! |
