Fallout 3 Australia ban reasoning discovered
Apparently, wanton murder and destruction is within the realm of acceptable gameplay for the OFLC, but drug abuse is not. Anyone who has played the Fallout series in the past knows that use of chems (drugs) in the game was quite common, amongst both the players and NPCs, and was in some cases an actual part of the plot. According to the OFLC, the “real-world” nature of the drugs in the game make them unacceptable.
Bethesda's answer may be to produce a censored version of the game to sell in Australia that meets local standards.

So take out the player's drug use.. big deal, in my opinion.. thats not what the game is about. Though censorship is a pain in the ass by itself. |

Censoring or changing parts of the game to make it more passable to authorities, it has been done before. |

NO don't take out the drug use because after the character use's i feel so good aswell,see u guy's later i just played GTA4 and need to go drinking.

I reckon if they make a censored version, someone will just releqase a patch that returns it to the original version anyway. =Pgame is about. Though censorship is a pain in the ass by itself. If not, I've already pre-ordered my copy so it'll just sit unopened gathering dust and I'll just be downloading the non-AU version, and we can blame my crap censor board for any increased piracy for those that don't buy the game. >=| |
